Hi everyone,

Have learnt a lot from this site. Had bought a ring from a local chain but returned it after I read everything here.

Need your opinion on this new rock.

0.91ct H, VS1

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1193307

The idealscope image is attached.

Scored 0.7 on the HCA. It''s a bit shallow but should look larger given it''s dimensions for a 0.91ct.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome!

It is a tad shallow but the IS looks great, just ask the rep at JA if it does show any obstruction when observing at close range to be safe, if not then it could be a definite contender.

Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely ask the rep. Could not see anything in the magnified image except for a tiny feather since it is VS1 I guess.

It looks like it has some girdle treatment?

Here is the magnified image of the diamond.

Wow did not realize that! Will ask - I think James Allen advertised all diamonds as non treated.

I don''t believe Julie meant that, I think she meant she thinks the girdle was painted

Yes she did,

Abrock, painting is a technique used to enhance certain visual properties in some diamonds. I rather like this description of Alj's where she has said that the difference between the two types of finishing styles, comparing painted and those with controlled contrast leakage points - the first has more of an intense beam and flash similar to that of a lighthouse, the second like the fast flashes you see in a rock concert or paparrazi flash at a celebrity gathering, very fast on off performance ( or like a certain someone's new avatar

....) So no worries at all, this can come down to personal taste but both apparently make for a beautiful diamond.

Got it. Thank you for your help here again. Since this is below $4K for this I am thinking of going for it and if does not have the visual fire when I get it I will switch to another one.

Most welcome and that sounds like a plan!

I would think from the info given that this diamond might be more conducive to white light or brilliance, but see what you think when you get it and give it a good test run in as many lighting conditions as possible, to see if it gives you the desired performance.

Thanks again. Will post pictures and first impressions when I actually get the ring.
