Diamond newbie, looking to buy my first diamond for an engagement ring.

I'm looking at a RB at WhiteFlash from their virtual selection. They brought in the diamond and sent me the images.

It's GIA EX cut, EX polish & symmetry, J color and SI1 clarity - which they looked at and say is "eye clean". It scores a 0.9 on the HCA.

I didn't buy it to be a hearts & arrows diamond, and I don't care about inclusions as long as the average person can't see them without magnification.

Everything look good to you guys? Anything to be concerned about?

Thanks for your help ;))

looks nice!

Is it eyeclean to your requirements? You can have your rep vet the stone by your standards

I have not seen it myself yet, but WhiteFlash says it is.

I'm not sure - is that an inclusion or smudges on the hearts image?

inclusions

Looks good.

I would have thought WF would have ask you not to post the hearts image of their non-ACA.

Looks good. Greaty buy, especially if the inclusions are not eye visible.... is it only not eye visible from the top down? Can you see it from the side (if you mind at all)?

Yes, this is a non ACA. I just asked them to check out the hearts for me.

Sorry, I didn't see the part of their email that asked me not to post the images. They have been removed.

That is what I am wondering too. I planned on getting a 4-prong setting to show off more of the diamond, so that might be an issue.

how big is the stone? the side view only becomes easily visible if stone is a certain size - would say 2.5+ in a low setting, or 1.5+ in a higher setting, that might be something to consider

unless it is a mind-clean thing, would not worry about seeing inclusions through the side of a stone that size unless you plan to mount it in a very, very high setting - the height of the stone is small, and even consider the mm or two a setting adds the entire structure is still low enough to the finger that to get a clear view through the pavilion someone would need to examine the stone while parallel to the finger - and how many people other than your intended are going to be doing that ::)

I agree with Yssie. At one carat, I wouldn't worry about the side.

Unless you plan on staring at your diamond thruogh the side view, I wouldnt stress over it. If you could see the inclusions from looking down at the stone.... then I would think long and hard about how you feel about that.
