Need opinion on diamonds for earrings

Hi,
I had posted a while back about how I made my original diamond from engagement (.81 not so great cut) into an earring by buying a matcing earring. I''m not happy with the earrings because the are a big too big for my taste for daily wear. Also, the first diamond was not so great and I ended up buying a second stone to match so what I have is a set thats a bit too large for me and not sparkly enough.

I am planning on trading in the .81ct I bought and buy a smaller set of ideal cut diamonds. I found a pair I think is really nice.


For now, I am just going to put the .81ct from my original engagment ring back into the original setting and put it away until I''m inspired to do something with it or save it for one of my girls.

Anyway, let me know what you all think of these for earrings. I stayed away from SI stones because I can see the inclusions. I have freakish eyes and can see inclusions below VS2. So I went down in color a bit to compensate and make the price reasonable.

Both stones are AGS "triple zero" cut

First stone: H color, VS2, .61ct, 5.42x5.44x3.37 table 56.2, depth 62, 34.4/41 $1,670

Second stone: I color, VS1, .60, 5.42x5.44x3.35, table 55.2, depth 61.7, 34/40.9 $1,490

Tell me what you all think. I am limited to this vendor because I can trade in the .81 I bought from them.

The price seems to be really good. I paid $2900 for the .81 so its not that much more out of pocket. And it will cost $250 for the platinum stud mountings.

One of my potential pairs is just that size. I am also considering .74's in the 5.8mm range. It is really hard to decide without trying them on!!! Please post a picture if you can! I'd love to get perspective of that size. Those two look well matched.

I voted on the .60 pair for you the price is so much better.

Funny think is I love love love the size of my 1.63 ring. Its not too much at all. But with the earrings, I wear my hair up a lot and I just feel they are a bit too big. They have a big spread 6.05mm and 6.0mm and for everyday wear its too much for me. I"m a jean and tshirt, often wear no make up, stay at home mom of 4. Very casual but I love love diamonds

Anyway, I figured going down a bit in size for maxiumum sparkle would work out well in terms of size, be affordable, and take care of the size problem.

I think that 1.2ctw is a GREAT size for daily wear.

Have you set your ring stone yet? IF not, you gotta set that stone before you get earrings

That''s right! I am still waiting on your ring picture! My rings should be ready any day. I just gave up and had it set in a good quality plain solitaire and I ordered a Memoire 7 stone band to go with it.

Well, I teach and am very casual all the time, too. The .74''s are not as large as the ones you are trading in. They are about 5.8mm. But I do like the price of the .61''s better. So I am assuming you think the .60 pair look nice in proportion to your diamond ring, right? I may call the vendor and see if they can do a picture of the stones side by side. I don''t know how to choose. It''s just a pain that the .74 stones are at two different vendors.
