I'm considering an upgrade and am going to look at two stones tomorrow, details are below. Would the OEC experts out there give me their thoughts/suggestions? I'm looking in the high 7mm-low/mid 8mm range. Don't want to go below a J and want the stone to be eye-clean. Thanks!

Stone 1:
2.11 carats
J/VS2
Measurements: 8.14x8.02x5.16
Depth: 63.9
Table: 52
Polish: good
Symmetry: good
Girdle: tn
Flour: none
Culet: med

Stone 2:
1.93 carats
I/SI 1
Measurements: 8.29x8.27x4.59
Depth: 55.5
Table: 46
Polish: good
Symmetry: good
Girdle: tn
Flour: faint
Culet: med

The first looks pretty, the second I don't like -- too shallow and looks leaky.

I don't consider myself an expert on OECs (though I do have 3 OEC stones) but I find it difficult to go off only one picture. At first glance, the faceting of the second stone seems more messy and not as crisp as the first stone plus there appears to be more obvious inclusions compared to stone 1. So, based on one picture, I like the first. What is the table % of the second stone? Are these from OWD?

ETA: I could be wrong but the second stone appears to have more tint than the first. Perhaps because it's more shallow and thus concentrating the colour into the edges. Of course, it could be that the pictures weren't taken under the same lighting conditions.

I think the first one is beautiful. I would not consider the second one though, it is very shallow.

Yes, they're both from OWD, so I only have one photo to go on until I see them in person tomorrow. The table on #2 is 46.

I don't know that I love either of them, on the basis of these pics ... but of the two, I think I'd buck the trend to vote for the second one. Yes, it's shallow, but I tend to prefer slightly "busier," more transitional-looking faceting. I'd want to see it in person, though - 55% depth doesn't guarantee a bad cut, but it's the sort of thing I'd like to verify for myself.

I'm so glad you get to see them in person. That is by far the best way to make a decision. Keep us informed of your choice please! :)

Circe - I'm a tranny fan too. I like the idea of seeing two stones that were a little different from each other.

Here's one more. I know I said I wanted to stick with J or above, but this looks awfully white...

Stone 3:
2.04 carats
K/VS2
Measurements: 8.03x7.99x5.14
Depth: 64.2
Table: 52
Polish: good
Symmetry: good
Girdle: tn
Flour: none
Culet: med

I saw that ring in person - very pretty! This M is also very pretty, and does face up whiter than stated color:

Either of those had the potential to be mine, but I'd already fallen in love with something else and the heart wants what the heart wants.

How did your visit to OWD go? Did you find a stone you love?

I saw a few things at OWD, but nothing that I loved. I had seen a trade-in that Diamonds By Lauren had on their site - a 1.81 M/VS 1 tranny in a platinum bezel setting - and stopped by to see it in person. Much to my surprise, given that I thought I wanted to stay at J or above, I LOVED the stone. David worked out a great deal with me, taking my ring in trade. The ring is being sized and should be done on Wednesday! I think I'll ultimately do a reset, but I'm thrilled with the ring for now. I just have one lousy iPhone pic for now. I'll post more later in the week.

OWD photos never look as good as the diamonds do in real life.

I agree. I can never tell what I'm going to like until I see it in person.

You will be VERY happy with that beautiful ring!! THe PSer who traded it in, just loved it!

Enerchi - do you know whose it was? I love the idea of having something well loved by another PSer.

K, I recently saw a side view of your diamond, and I really love the setting. Unless it's just not your style, I think it would be hard to beat. I like your bands, too. I'm considering a rope type band like yours.

Beautiful ring  Glad to see it went to good home.

I like this one ......
