I have *finally* gotten to start a bling fund for the first time! I am supposed to be saving for a diamond. I only have a little money so far and I'm all squirmy with excitement and anticipation.

Then, I saw this pretty band online last night. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123#ht_5712wt_1037 I love it. It's only $195 plus resizing. I can afford it, but then I'll be losing momentum in saving for a diamond.

And yes, I already have a ring that's very similar. I know I shouldn't buy this ring, but I want to. Somebody slap me. Or throw some cold water on me.

Step away from Ebay!!! If you are trying to save you have to stop 'window' shopping. You will always find something you would like, but if you want a diamond you have to focus!!!

Thanks; you're right. I keep fantasizing about getting a new ring, then start looking at settings, then I ended up seeing that ring. :read:
I'll have to make sure the money isn't very accessible, so I keep from spending on impulse!

I totally agree with Maisie - back away from the computer! There will always be temptation lurking in the next screen, on eBay. :(sad

That is NOT the place to while away hours, if you are bored and have a limited budget... not that I know what I'm talking about :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something: :Up_to_something:

1. Never shop for food when hungry. If you go to the super before you eat, you're bouond to pick up more munchies and snacks than if you go right after a big meal.

In the same vein, if you really want to get a diamond, you should try to find have access to a diamond ring type that you really want to get, fiddle around with it and keep inspiration pics first before you wade online to shop. It might help you stay focused.

Nothing ilke seeing a big dream ring on your friend's finger to keep you focused on your own project, and not get waylaid by the occasional deviations.

quit looking at ebay and look only at what it is you want to save your money for: post a picture of that diamond or whatever somewhere. every time you're tempted to buy something else, cut that picture to show the loss. might help to actually "see" your loss towards your purchase and stick to your savings plan.

Thank you everyone for the encouragement! Although I seem to change my mind every six months on what type of diamond I want next, I have decided now that I'm saving for an AVC. There are a lot of nice pictures around PS of gorgeous ones. I have been thinking of the AVC every time I think about the little band and that does seem to help me realize I don't want to get sidetracked.

I have the same issue about saving, but it's sad to have stones that are not set and I cannot wear. I look at them to remind me not to buy anymore.

Pricescope and ebay make me spend money.

I find when I'm doing other things I tend to think less about diamonds :saint:
