Hi,

I'm about to pull the trigger on this and just needed piece of mind from the pros before doing so.

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../1.028-g-vs2-round-diamond-bkags-104094643002

I was looking for something about 1 carat for about 8000.

I was at first looking through BN and James Allen but then somehow through googling stumbled upon BG.

If that was a bad choice too, please let me know.

But, yeah, anyway, could I have done better on that site or is the one I selected pretty good? (for equal or lesser $$)

This stone will be amazing! I have bough from BGD multiple times before although never from their "black" line. You can always go slightly down in color and pick up a bit extra size, but this will be a really beautiful and white stone!

It a premium stone and is very good, it is custom cut, so you pay a premium for that. BDG is a great cutter and their signature cuts are well regarded.

Doing a quick search, I found some good options for you to compare and see options that change up clarity and color as suggested by @SimoneDi . These all are also super-ideal.

so, you REALLY can't tell the difference between an H and a G? The one thing I keep worrying about in going down in color for size is that if I see any tint of color with my naked eye. I would rather a very bright white than bigger and slightly yellow.

Her fingers are quite small, probably at a size 3.5-4. (I'm getting 4 just in case so that it at least fits when i propose but I am almost sure it will be resized down).

That's why I figured around 1 carat would be sufficient in size on her

I love any of the above! Good luck with your selection!!! :mrgreen2:

@icen00b her finger size is very delicate! I think that staying aroud the 1ct Mark is just perfect. If you really want white, then stay with the G. I have had an H and all the way down to K and I also have a G color pendant, the G is very white, from the profile as well. H is white, but you can see a little bit of slight tint in the profile, so G is definitely a safer option.

There are folks who are very color sensitive, but at 1ct and one level of color difference, I think it's reasonable to choose either a G or H. However, if you want to be on the super safe side, stay with a G.

Just out of curiosity, how are you planning to set it?

Hi @icen00b

In my humble opinion, face up, you won't see much between a H & G colors but if the setting allows you to see the body colour then you'll see a difference against a white backdrop.

I can see the difference between a F G & H. I also wear a 3.5-4. My DH wouldn't let me pick a bigger sized G stone vs the F we picked so I know what it's like for color sensitive souls!! You have to go with your gut here.

1 carat is a great size and Black by BGD is honestly the best you'll get in terms of cut. If you are looking for reassurance then this is a great selection. It's eye clean and will be beautifully sparkly!

If you are looking to increase the size then yes going to a H won't make much difference visually as the cut will dominate the stone but of course there will be marginally more body color!!

Really hope that helps and good luck! Hope she says yes! =)2

thanks guys. going with the original!

and will be setting it on the brian gavin legera pave.

just doing a quick internet search to see if there are any coupon codes before proceeding.

You've chosen an amazingly beautiful stone... and I love the six-prong legera pave. This will be a gorgeous ring. Please indulge us with photos when you receive it. :mrgreen2:

I like 6 prong but apparently all her friends and her included have talked about rings and how they only like 4-prongs. gotta go 4 and please the lady, haha. i find the claws on 6 prongs are smaller. hopefully these claws don't look too big.

You're a good man to mind her wishes. ;)2 Prongs are a matter of personal preference so it will be equally stunning in either one.

It will look stunning! I also have 4 prong so really approve! Please post pics when you get this beauty delivered!! =)2
