First of all, I think this forum is great and I appreciate the knowledge that I''ve gained from here. I just bought a ring for my girlfriend. (1/2 carat, ring is a 6 prong tiffany setting)

but when I go around looking at other settings, my ring looks a little cheap (not the diamond, just the ring itself). Now I think I want to get a different setting for the diamond. I leave the country in a few weeks to give this to my girl. So I don''t have much time if I want to get a different setting. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I just give her the ring as is, and pick a new setting together? Or should I purchase a new setting. I''m leaning towards getting a new setting, I just don''t know where to shop. I live in southern california, any suggetions on places to go. please send me a private message of any places you can recommend. thanks

A six-prong tiffany is a classic and very beautiful setting--and will keep the focus on the diamond, where it belongs.

I would present the ring to her as-is, and let her know that if she would like to get a different setting you are willing to let her look around. Maybe she's one of those girls who likes three-stone e-rings. Maybe she likes pave. Maybe she likes solitaires--there's lots of those, too (me included).

I'd give her the option, but let it be her choice. I'm sure she'll love it no matter how it's presented.
