My husband upgraded my e-ring for Christmas, and we also purchased a new 7-stone band. After wearing the rings, my finger would itch, and soon became irritated and red. Turned out a have a nickel allergy and the white gold in the shared prong area was the culprit!

Although I''ve never had any platinum pieces, I am having the e-ring remade in platinum so I don''t have any issues in the future. I decided to slightly modify the ring design since I was changing the material. Attached is the wax model from Whiteflash. The new e-ring will have a 1.07 center stone (G, VS2) with six 10-point ACA stones in a shared prong platinum setting.

I don''t know what type of band to get this time around. The ''bling'' factor on the original set was a little too much! Any suggestions - plain band? eternity band? channel set? There are too many choices! Thanks!

I have a similar set....but the stones are a bit smaller....have you seen Mara''s set....correct me if I''m wrong, Mara, but don''t you have slightly smaller stones/width it your wedding ring?
I might do that .....get an additional narrower ban with smaller stones........hopefully Mara will chime in......

What is the width of your new band??????

Maxine, that''s a good question! I''m going to guess between 2.5 to 3mm.

I found that I really couldn''t decide what I wanted for a band until I tried my ering on with a bunch of different weddding bands. Your ring looks like it''s going to be SO pretty. You might try it on with two very slender platinum bands (one on each side) to highlight your ering''s sparkle. (I saw another ring set like this over in "show me the ring" under "show me your wedding sets.)

I went back and looked up your upgrade set, and I have to say that I don''t think it was too much bling! But I understand if you do and while it''s too bad that you have to change your new set, it''s nice that you can make the changes and "tweak" the design a bit. Are you trading in your wedding band to Whiteflash...the one with the 5 point stones?

I like Diamonds4''s suggestion of just two very narrow (maybe 2mm) platinum bands on either side of the e-ring. Then sometime down the road, if you want more bling, you can add a diamond band to the set.

Thanks for the great suggestions!

Patty, Whiteflash let me trade in the band (it was originally purchased from them). I love your rings and the look of the thin bands with your e-ring!

I just went and viewed your rings....I love them.....how will the new one (E-Ring) be different???
What size diamonds were in the 7 stone band........???

Maxine, the new e-ring will have six 10-pt stones instead of four 15-pointers (I''m hoping the new should make the center stone stand out maybe a little more with smaller stones.) The old wedding band had seven 5-point ACA stones. It seemed like a LOT of bling to me (of course, maybe I just wasn''t used to it - my old set I had for 16 years was a 60-point e-ring on a Tiffany-style band with a plain 4mm gold wedding band.)

I stopped at a jewelry store today and looked at channel set and plain bands. It''s really hard to tell, I guess, until I actually receive the e-ring. I am hoping to get the re-made e-ring this week!

I can''t wait to see it!!! My ering has six 6.5 pters, and the band 7 5.5 pters.....at first I thought it was too much, but I had comments re: getting one for the other side!!! Like you, I really want to look at proportions....the center stone is 1.21....looks fine w/band!!!

Thanks again to everyone for their suggestions. Attached is the e-ring from Whiteflash!

Oh, it turned out great! I love it!

Are you happy with it?

It looks great. That''s a beautiful choice.
