I'm looking at the following diamond and the specs look very good. But I'm not sure why it is priced well below others of similar specs.

1.01 Ct
H
VS1
GIA Rated: Ideal Cut
WhiteFlash: "Expert Selection"
Cost: $4,475

So here are a few questions:

-Why is it only GIA rated and not AGS, like all of the other stones that have been rated as "Ideal Cut/Expert Selection".
-If it is "Ideal Cut", then why is there a big white area in the middle of the diamond.
-Also, what do you think about this diamond. Like most people I'm looking for quality, but I live in the real world so I'm still on a budget. http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2324697.htm

Thanks for the heads up! Link is fixed.

If you look at the center in the ASET, significant leakage.

So even though a diamond has "Ideal Cut", it can still have leakage?

honestly, just my own personal thoughts, is that either one would be fine by me if one was not available, you won't be comparing them side by side, that being said, some noticeable difference is the table size is that a smaller table will be more fiery. The second one you linked is also almost .3mm in size difference to me and noticeable for me anyways, with that said, I would take a size increase of the second stone, and the price is just a tad more. the color might be a consideration for you, if you can have them take a picture side by side you might find one more appealing then the other. just a thought.

I am not expert, so please factor that in.
the white X in the first stone on the Ideal Scope is leakage that will show dark under the table.

The second stone looked to my eye better choice.

Experts can chime in.

You guy's definately know more than me. I've been trying to do my research, but it's hard to cram so much information in at once.

There are many candid experts on this great forum that will chime in to help you making the choice.
I observed the leakage so i mentioned it , there could be other aspects am not aware of that may make stone #1 better choice, i would like you to benefit from their opinion.

Actually, with princess cuts, it is VERY common to have a white area like that in the center, even in well cut stones, it is due to depth and the culet reflecting around (or something to this effect, Stone mentioned it once, maybe he will come back and comment).

Both a nice princess cuts in my opinion, but I would opt for the second -- I like the smaller table, and the lesser depth, and the patterning is more pleasing to my eye.

Thanks for the responses, I do appreciate any thoughts that you guys/gals might have. Is there any way to private message through this forum?

Not to my knowledge.

Possible. Basically depends on how much tilt it is needed for the leaking facets to switch to a reflecting facets. This is where a gem adviser file would be useful.

There is no PM in this forum to prevent under the table soliciting.

It is a carat minus 1 cent, and if it is an eye clean (SI2) it is worth looking at.
Solasfera is cut for optics and the performance is undeniably top on all accounts.

You can get the price if you hit the reserve diamond button, you are not committed but you get to know the price! bank wiring would discount more i think.
