First and foremost, I just want everyone on Pricescope to know that I've learned so much browsing through everyone's topics and posts and well as through the knowledge links itself. I think Pricescope is a great example of evening the playing field between diamond dealers and the everyday consumer. I went to a Helzberg Diamonds after visiting PS and I couldn't believe the prices they were charging. Anyways, I was set on buying a stone on WF that I had also asked members of PS about, and then someone else reserved it. :/

However, I did some more research and came up with these two stones.

Both have an AGS cert. The whiteflash stone is an ACA but the James Allen stone is much larger obviously (1.61) and it also got good scores from AGS. I know my girlfriend wants a bigger stone and I'm leaning towards the bigger stone because of that. However, I'm concerned that it isn't eyeclean. Can anyone help me out with this please?

ask your Sales Rep at JA about eye cleanliness. I would be inclined to get the larger, as it doesn't look like black carbon spots which I don't like, however with this inclusion, I can tolerate, and sounds like your GF would appreciate size as well. THe scintillation/ sparkles/brillance from the ideal cut would help mask the inclusion a bit. Just remember this is magnified image. Good luck!

If the H/SI2 is eyeclean.. I would go for it. I think that the .4 ct increase will be noticable- while the G vs H color in two ideal cut stones will not be, IMHO. Also- as long as they are eyeclean- the SI2 an the SI1 are essentially the same.

Also, does anyone know how the taxes work on these sites? It seems that JA charges me a sales tax and WF doesn't. Am I seeing this correctly?

Well, the JA rep said that the large diamond probably isn't eyeclean. She said that at first glance, you wouldn't be able to see it, but after you find out where it is, you can always see it. I dunno. I really like the cut and size for the price...

did they take it out and inspect it? or just looking from the pics? big difference. Are you interested in taking a look for yourself?

there are quite a few other diamonds that are SI2 and clean just a tad smaller many in the 1.52 ct size...

here is one, but something looks a little wonky with their photography?

ETA: this is just one example that could possibly be eyeclean, this particular diamond may not be what you are interested in, but there are many in your price range and 1.5ctish size, that is exceptionally well cut. Look for GIA stone as well, as you may be able to get an equally beautiful stone

Thanks D&T. I will keep looking. The gemologist at JA is going to take a look at the 1.6 and then they'll let me know if it's eye clean.
