Hi all...

I just got a diamond solitaire and matching band from Adiamor, with an ideal round .90 diamond, VS2, I color...

Here's the story, I LOVE the diamond, am not happy with the setting. It's a trellis, and it's the style I want...but it's very slight..I want something "beefier". Wider band, diamond set higher up, etc. I should have known as the setting was VERY inexpensive...but it looked great in the picture online and just doesn't look great in person :(

My question is, if I keep the diamond, how difficult is it to find a setting and have another jeweler set the stone for me? I don't even know where to start. Should I return the whole ring and start all over? I really like this diamond..it's so sparkly and beautiful.

maybe start by contacting adiamor? it should be fairly easy to find another jeweler who will set the diamond, most will charge a small fee for this service since it is not one of their diamonds.

Well, here's what has happened.

I really was not happy with the Adiamor setting. I went into a local jeweler here that has a good rep and that my DH bought a pendant from about 5 years ago..Thought I would see what they could do.

The local jeweler was awesome and said they would be happy to set my Adiamor diamond into one of their settings. They had hundreds of gorgeous designer settings as well as their own designs. They had several that were more like what I want. Then, the woman who was helping me said she could get me a similar diamond at a similar price....

SO I went in yesterday to see the diamond, it's beautiful. So I am sending the entire ring AND stone back to Adiamor. I really like the idea of getting everything at this local jeweler where I will have a guarantee, a real person to talk to face-to-face, and an upgrade policy.

I am nervous about one thing, though. The setting we ended up choosing for the main diamond was shown in the store with a 1.5 carat assher CZ, in white gold. Mine will be a .92 round in yellow gold. I am nervous that it isn't going to look good. Specifically, I loved the size/substantial-ness of the ring setting...but with a smaller stone I'm afraid the whole thing is going to look smaller. She assured me that it will be beautiful w/my stone and in yellow gold. I am getting yellow because I really like it for wedding sets, but I liked the white too....it's SO hard to decide on everything!!
