Hello! I am new here but have been lurking and reading and trying to learn all I can for a few days now. I haven't learned enough yet, but am looking for an engagement ring in the price of approximately 10 grand CANADIAN and wouldn't mind having some help on recommendations. I found this one on ebay, and I wouldn't think of it until I have gained much more knowledge on the subject, but this one ends soon so I decided to post it here to see if someone could help me. Can anybody comment on this possible purchase?

Thanks!

The vast magority of tiffany stuff on ebay is fakes.
Great caution is needed when dealing with it.

I agree with storm, stay away from ebay!!!

The picture shown is not the same as the actual diamond. If you''ll look at the GIA report, you''ll see that the Table is 63%. The table on the diamond in the close up pic is MUCH smaller.

I am not going to give you any advice--just some observations. In the description, the vendor says the color is H but the GIA report says F. It is hard to see the GIA report but if you click on it there is a way to magnify it.
For this reason, and because of some of the sort of ambiguous wording about the stone,(the kind of stone Tiffany sells or something like that) it may be that the setting is original but the stone has been replaced. There is a big difference in price between F and H and you have no guarantee that the stone even resembles the one in the gradng report.
The seller has been with Ebay for a long time and has an impressive feed-back rating. But check the articles he sold--mainly cheap stuff and not much jewelry.
The one expensive item,$6,000 ring, mentions the price in the feed-back.This is unusual. Some Ebay vendors have fake sales in which they list expensive articles, a friend bids on them and is the successful bidder, but no merchandise or money changes hands. The vendor just pays the Ebay charges in order to get good feed-back on an expensve item.
Now please do not take my advice as to whether or not to buy this ring. I may be mistaken. But just check the GIA report for yourself and see if the description matches the stone. I wanted to get back to you as soon as possible so you can check for yourself. I may be completely off base and you may be missing out on a great deal--but I doubt it.

P.S. This is strange. I checked again and sometimes I get small version of the GIA report which, when enlarged, says the stone is F color and other times I get a larger version of the report which says the stone is H color. However, somehow it looks as if one report is laid below another GIA report in the larger report that says H color.

i agree with solange--VERY VERY SUPSICIOUS. i would say be safe and avoid.

I agree with ForteKitty. The table does look small. Maybe you can ask the seller to take pictures of the prongs to see if you can see where they''ve been tampered with. I would probably avoid bidding on this ring.

Holy smokes, you guys probably saved my a$$. THANKS!! No chance I'm going to bid on this thing. I did some searching too and also found that there was only one expensive item sold. I usually don't buy anything from ebay unless it's some super power seller with thousands of feedback. I too am very skeptical about online purchasing and read all the pros and cons of ebay and paypal etc. I was thinking of that one because it was in Canada and I'm in Vancouver so I thought I'd email him and ask if he's in my neighborhood but he wasn't

Notice that the bidding is private also?

First I came to the conclusion that I wanted something from Tiffany's because most people do not take into consideration the amount of time it takes to do research and shopping to find double the diamond for the same price. If my time was valuable to me, then I think I'd do Tiffany's, but then again, I think I can make a good decision without spending thousands of dollars in 'time'. I don't want to be one of those people who puts in 1$ worth of labor to save 75 cents:)

I think my girlfriend would like something from Tiffany's, but then again, if I can find something much better for the price...

I guess I have to do more research...
