Hi,

How much could this Men's white gold ring with a 0.42 ct natural diamond cost?

It has a certificate and a guarantee paper from 1976 by Juwelen-Handelsgesellschaft mbh & Co. (Hanau, Germany).

All the data I collected from both can be seen here below:

The ring...
Alloy: 585 White Gold
(from what I know, this is 58.5 % gold + either nickel or some other white metal combined)

The diamond
Cut: Brilliant, "Moderner Schliff"
Purity: P F
Colour: W K, Wesselton (white)
Weight: 0.42 carats
Specific weight: 3.52
Inclusions: Pique II (tested under 10x magnification)

I reckon, it's rather the rock that could push the price a bit high, the white gold ring is

Thank you kindly if you can help :twirl:

(PS: I decided to turn to this forum, because I know dealers are interested to push prices down, while among similar brand new rings I saw too many different prices that got me confused)

Hi,

Im definitely more new here than a lot of other posters but from reading what has been posted here in different threads and my own research there's a lot of other factors that have to be taken into consideration.

1) The 585 hallmark is a European hallmark indicating its gold purity - It should be equivalent to the US 14kt.

2) The amount of gold in the ring can definitely affect the price. I would have it weighed to get a better idea, the ring looks carved out on the inside of the upper setting and the ring size is unknown (both big factors in gold $$), and then look at the price of gold currently. Scrap I feel is the best price to judge the minimum value of the setting since you don't know how popular the setting is and if other people would see the value in it about scrap price. (The prior labor costs could be a sunk factor).

3) Diamond price is also another questionable thing. If those characteristics are from the original grading report , the diamond could have lower qualities now after the year and tear of many years of use. I would recommend bringing it to a respected jeweler or appraiser to get a better figure on the quality of the stone in its current condition.

Once you have these open ends tied up Im sure someone here could give you a much better idea of value. ( You could even figure out a ballpark figure yourself using market value of comparable stones and gold price)

Hi and thanks for the reply.

As a matter a fact, I did browse through all sorts of prices and have found rings with similar stones selling for 5,000+ $, others for 500 $ only... Quite a big difference and they were all new, men's white gold rings with comparable carat diamonds.

Unfortunately in the area where I live, there are no diamond experts nearby, so all I have is pretty much the internet. For a while.

I'm trying to create myself an idea about approximately how much this could be worth. An interval of minimum and maximum would be great.

I'm still all eyes to any price suggestions, advice etc.
