Hi guys, I made a couple of posts inquiring over princess cut diamonds a couple of weeks ago, well it turns out my dear girlfriend has changed her mind about what she wants, so now she wants a round diamond in a halo setting, something similar to the Tiffany Embrace.

Following the advice that Cut is King, I have decided on a Hearts & Arrow diamond and since I am working with GOG I will be choosing one of their Superior cuts. My budget allows to spend $4,500 +/-. So I have looked at GOG's inventory and found the following diamonds:

0.81ct I VS1 Superior Round Hearts & Arrows Diamond - (Bank wire price: $3,967)

0.8ct F SI1 Superior Round Hearts & Arrows Diamond - (Bank wire price: $4,258)

0.83ct D SI2 Superior Round Hearts & Arrows Diamond - (Bank wire price: $4,572)

0.81ct G VS2 Superior Round Hearts & Arrows Diamond - (Bank wire price: $4,732)

May I please ask the experts to take a look at these and give me a recommendation? I have checked all of them in the HCA tool and all score below 2.0, in fact some even less than 1.0. I have no idea how this translates to real life performance, but I have seen people use it as a deciding factor.

On the other hand I also found this Premium Cut, which I understand is an inferior cut, but it allows me to go a tad bit larger.

0.96ct H SI2 Premium Round Ideal Cut Diamond - (Bank wire price: $4,586)

Would it be worth sacrificing on cut for a little extra carat weight?

Thank you for your inputs!

Yes, in this case the 96 point is not sacrificing anything you will see to the naked eye (assuming it is eyeclean) as it has ideal light return and a great idealscope image and mega scope. And it lets you get significantly bigger.

This stone (if eyeclean) is what I'd buy: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11910/

Thank you very much for your input Gypsy, I will ask GOG if it is eye clean. Any other opinions please?

I would buy the .81 G VS2. That is a nice color and clarity for an engagement ring, in my opinion, and it is a H&A cut which is nice!

Thank you! what about the 0.8ct F SI1 ??? it is 500 bucks cheaper than the G VS2, would it be a good option if it is eye clean?
