Now I have finalized the design of my ring - I need a pair of trapezoid step cut weigh between 0.50 to 0.64 ct. The only online vender I could find to have such stones is americanfancies.com But the pair I found there seems to have very ''short'' look by just looking at its measurement. I need a longer looking, i.e. the ratio of the long edge and the short edge be at ~9:5.

Any other place? Please help me!

My local stores gave me very high quotes so I will be much better off to find the stone myself.

The jeweler should be taking care of these... Anyway: here's another store. I would suspect they may produce more options upon request,

However, the maker of the ring is the one who should decide the constraints of the traps' dimentions based on your design. For example, the side "touching" the center stone should be shorter than the side of the center to allow for the prongs... and the size of the ring will determine how "long" these can be to achieve a certain effect. Also, the stones will not be aligned with tables on paralel planes but rather slightly inclined to follow the finger and create the ilusion of "straightness". Not sure if any of this makes sense or is overly simplstic to you - given that you are already designing a ring. I am writing just to make sure your work will not go wasted once technicalities are considered. I usually find it useful to communicate with the jeweler while deciding on the shape of a ring. if nothing else, this is the best way to learn what his technical constraints are (not all jewelers can do everything you might think of).

You may never obtain a decent (retail) price on side stones given that these shapes are usualy sold to jewelers, not directly to consumers. Just a thought, of course.

Thanks for the reminder on the design. I've had it confirmed with the jewelry maker and am quite anxious to see it become reality.

You are propably right on 'never get a decent (retail)price on sidestones'. However, the quotes I got was outragous. A pair of 0.8 (0.4 each) F VS1 trapezoid cost $4,000, and $2,700 for a pair of 0.54 (0.27 each) G/H VS2.

All prices were given under the condition that I will also have the ring done by them!

Sorry to hear this...

Those should definitely be not as expensive as regular rounds (forget H&As) in the same color/calrity/weight range.

The following prices have been quoted to me earlier for a ring:
G-VVS-1.2ctv $3800
G-VS2-0.9 ctv $1700
G-VS1-0.85 ctv $1800
