Hi all

I'm back in the hunt after being away for 2 weeks. Really keen to use whiteflash if poss as love the feedback in the ACA and also pretty sure I can find the right setting here.

So...budget is around 18.5k USD to take into account exchange rate and tax/duty this end. Was hoping to make my dream weight of 2.3, but looks like I'll need to stick around 1.8 unless anyone can find me something amazing! This budget needs to inc setting too.

Have found this below, it's a j and would prefer to stick to I if poss. Must be eye clean. I guess another sacrifice would be to find something from the ES selection that has only just missed the ACA grading.

To confirm I am a she and this is my 10 year upgrade so I have no time restraints and will happily wait til I find the perfect stone for my budget.

Here's the first for your advice!!

Hi Ilove,

We would be pleased to help you with your project, what a wonderful upgrade! Do you have an idea of what type of setting you want and how much of the budget it will need? Once we know exactly how much we have to work with, we can have a good look for you. The diamond you posted looks great, I think for the budget considering Expert Selection diamonds would be a good idea, we might be able to find something a little bigger if we could consider J colour and SI clarity, maybe if you prefer to work with Whiteflash only, they might be able to find you something from the virtual listing if getting the maximum size possible is a priority, but of course with a non in house stone they would call it in for analysis to see if it meets their standards and advise accordingly.

I hope this helps, thank you for inviting us to share your journey! :wavey:

How about these Crafted by Infinity from High Performance Diamonds (Wink Jones on here)?

1.84 J VVS2

£19k wire price

1.92 K IF(!)

£18k wire price

They're at the smaller end of your range and the K might be a bit past your ideal cut-off point colour-wise, but from all my research on here, it appears that the SuperIdeal cuts from CBI are noticeably more striking than other ideal cut stones and are able to offset lower colours through the sheer amount of light they return :)

Thanks for your responses, I am in the hunt for a band with ACA melee (spell?) similar to Mara, Isobel and mcblohe - I haven't been able to work out what the setting is yet, but it is like a shared prong or 4 prong style.

I also like the settings from BGD and love the look of their blue range!!

As I live in NZ I am unable to view anything in advance so think I am too nervous going to a K, even a J makes me a lil nervous unless it is as awesome as the lynnb and Mara stones I have drooled over!!

No problem Ilove, I can tell you the stones Oohsh picked will definitely be as awesome as Mara and LynnB's, Mara's is a J and I think LynnB's is too if I remember rightly. I think also their rings are shared prong with ' scoopy' prongs, I remember Mara emphasized that when her ring was being made and as you know, it turned out beautifully!

BG Blue could be a fantastic choice and he could definitely provide a setting that suits your needs too. We can keep searching for you, with the setting, any one of the vendors could up with something like the one you describe, it just depends who has the stone...!

You guys are amazing, I basically need someone to lead me the right way and help me make the right decision!! I am IDEALlY after something around 2.3 but am guessing I'll have to settle for around 1.8.

Everything I have read about whiteflash seems like amazing reviews, I am hesitant to go with anyone else and just hope the setting I long is with them.

So where to...do I decide on setting or stone?

Julie i will ask, anything i need to ask more specific other than 'negative effects?'

And do I need to worry that it's not AGS ideal, or no and sacrifice for hopefully bigger stone with GIA ex?

I guess what I'm really asking is is 1.8 ideal better than 2.3 GIA ex in size, whats brighter / blingier?

Have asked q about clarity will come back when I hear?

Ok Julien stone is in Asia and needs gemologist to look at it, they have said Monday, which country Monday who knows!! Will update

That's a beauty Jules picked, if you would consider J colour it will get you more size but it's an individual preference. I would not presume to speak for Jules as she will give you her thoughts and concerns regarding this diamond. Just adding my thoughts in case she doesn't log in this weekend, for me, I would check the twinning wisps and the cloud inclusion aren't causing transparency issues and a loss of brilliance, Brian at B2C will be able to advise there and whether it is eye clean to your specifications. As to whether to go with a branded AGS0 or not, it's again a personal preference issue, you might be able to choose a stone such as Jules' pick if it checks out without visual sacrifice, but whether you would always wish you went for the branded H&A AGS0 is something to consider, or extra size and J colour.

What a lovely stone!

Ok WOW I am totally excited, if I can get my dream weight this is crazy and I didn't think it would happen. How do setting work with B2c, can you use other suppliers? Or do I need to start searching their settings? Was so set on a WF so need more help sorry!!!

LOL - no need to apologize, we are here to help every step of the way! I am not sure of the vendor policies nowadays, I am trying to get up to speed but lots to do and this is something I need to check. It is possible WF might be able to set this diamond for you in one of their settings, but if so, you would need to clarify things such as liability if the stone was damaged during setting, it's rare but not unheard of. A vendor that supplies the setting and stone will normally assume liability should damage or loss occur. It might be easier to see what settings B2C offer should this diamond check out- I am hoping it will-but you can always ask Brian at B2C for advice, he might be able to obtain a setting very similar to the one you want on request.

Hiya

This was the response from b2c, I am guessing this is a bad thing?

As per our chat conversation, diamond stock number 5037120 is available and has been evaluated by our in house diamond expert, this is a gorgeous eye clean diamond with a lot of fire and brilliance, the girdle is slightly unpolished, however this diamond will make a beautiful piece of Jewelry.

That the girdle is slightly unpolished isn't necessarily a bad thing, this finish can sometimes be chosen in big stones of lower colour, like this one, as some cutters believe it helps stop the colour reflecting back inside the stone, in other words, a girdle that is slightly unpolished or bruted can help the diamond look a little whiter due to it's slightly whitish frosted appearance, that's possibly the case here. It's just one of various techniques a good cutter can use to bring out the best in a diamond, ask B2C for more info on this and I am sure they will be pleased to give further detail.

How exciting!!!

A diamond of that caliber at that price is amazing. This is why I love PS.
