Need help dating ring setting

Hello,

I have my grandmother's engagement ring, which I thought was from 1929 (or so) when she was married. I recently started looking into the hallmark on the ring and determined that it is Hungarian for 14k gold, in use from 1937 to 1966.

I am 99% sure that the diamond is from the late 1920's, but the hallmark leads me to believe that the stone was re-mounted in a different setting over the years.

I was wondering if someone could date the ring setting based on style?

Also, when I had the ring appraised, the appraiser said it was Old European cut, but after looking up that particular cut, I am not sure about that.

You may want to post in Rocky Talk and see if any of the old cut lovers there can tell you more about the diamond. It is lovely.
