Hello – I’m new to PS and diamond buying and I’m looking for some feedback on a recent purchase that is still within the return/exchange period. I’m set on a Scott Kay ER setting (shown below). It’s a .76 RB diamond. Specs are below. I’m looking for some feedback. Do you think it will be eye clean? Did I make a good purchase?

.76 Round Brilliant – GIA Certified
Color: I
Clarity: SI1 (Characteristics – Crystal, Knot, Cloud, Feather)
Measurements: 5.88 x 5.90 x 3.58mm
Cut/Polish/Sym – All Excellent
Fluorescence – Faint
Depth – 60.8%
Table – 57%
Crown Angle – 33.5
Pavilion Angle – 40.8
Cutlet – 0%

HCA Score – 0.9 Excellent within TIC range
Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread: Very Good

*Diamond Vendor can’t provide an IdealScope picture or an ASET picture.

The company I’m buying it from just got it in, and fired off a quick picture to me. The picture isn’t of the highest quality but they can get additional pics for me this coming up week or they said they can mail me the diamond and I can take a look, and mail it back to have it set. What are your thoughts?

Sorry - $2390

The inclusions are white, but they are also under the table where your eye will be drawn. Did you ask the vendor if the stone is eye clean? Be very clear about what eye clean means to you. For most vendors it's half an arms length, so if you don't want to see any inclusions closer than that or from the side you will need to specifically ask that.

Thanks for the feedback. The vendor said that the stone is definitely eye-clean. My definition of eye-clean is looking at the stone at about 6 inches with no visible inclusions. He said looking through the top of the stone it is definitely eye-clean. He said that there is a crystal inclusion at the edge of the table, visible under magnification. I was really just looking for some additional PS feedback.

Sounds like you've got a winner! :)) Can't wait to see photos of the completed ring!
