Hi All:
You all helped me decide the last diamond 12 years ago. Now, it is time to find an upgrade for my wife. The last one you helped me find was 1.26 CT, Round, Excellent Cut, G Color, VS1. I am thinking similar configuration. For maximum brilliance, should I make any adjustments to the above configuration? What is the price range I should expect for this configuration?

Thanks again,
Laks

What size are you looking for - for the upgrade?

Oops- 2.1-2.3 carats. Ideal size is 2.25 carat.

are you using the 1.26 CT as an upgrade trade in for store credit @ James Allen ?
so min spend would be 2x = $21,500 or more i assume ?
what is the GIA or AGS report number for the current one so we can see the current specs ?

Hello, @lakss !
I see that you made threads about upgrading in 2017 and 2020 - what held you back from upgrading then?
Is your budget today any different than the $25-30k stated in your 2020 thread?
What is the lowest color and clarity grade that you'll consider for the new diamond?
Is "True Hearts" important for the diamond upgrade?

Any discussions of keeping the current mined diamond ring and buying a GIA graded human grown diamond...maybe even just to buy one loose, inspect/assess it for a week or two, then decide if LGD is something to keep or return for a refund?
Probably yield yourself around 2.15-2.25 D VVS1-VVS2 with true ideal proportions and angles from $1500-1750.

I am looking for Natural diamond. As for the budget question, I am open on the budget ($15 - $30K) The key factor is brilliance. From the past discussions, I understand the 'Cut' is the most important aspect hence I am looking for Excellent cut. As for color G and clarify VS1 is what I am thinking. I see the prices range widely for VS1, G, GIA certified 2.00-2.25. Is it because of difference in the symmetry? Could you please help me narrow down which stones I should consider for my criteria?

Are you looking to trade in her current diamond with James Allen or is she keeping that diamond?

We are included to keeping the old and buy the new one.

in that case why not just buy Whiteflash ?

however there is arbitrage value to trading in the old stone for full credit of the $10,700 towards a new JA e-ring stone given current retail on 1.25 G VS is around 7k (33% less) - you lose the sentimental value of course....

I agree with this - if you want the best light performance of a diamond - choose one of these. You won't be disappointed!!

I also agree, lakss - any SIC seller such as Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, Victor Canera, Continental Diamond (Legacy line), JannPaul, Distinctive Gem, etc will be a guaranteed win for best cut precision and overall optical performance.
