Hello goodnight. I am in need of some urgent help. Found this website while trying to find a ring for my girlfriend soon to be wife. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have to get married by March 21. We are going to the courthouse to get married since we can't afford anything big right now and the time is so close. Went to Kays Jewelry and she liked this set
http://m.kay.com/en/kaystore/engagement---wedding/diamond-bridal-set-1-5-8-carat-tw-14k-white-gold

Price is above my budget of $2500 with a max of $3000. Need some help to see if I can something better than the Kay set within my budget and get it before March 21. She likes white gold, princess cut similar to the look of the Kay set.

I am still trying to read and understand the different aspects of diamonds etc on the website but I need some quick help from you experts due to my time constraints.

Any advice or recommendations is appreciated. If you think I should approach this different let me know.

Thanks.

OJ

I can't get the link to work. Can you download the picture then upload it here?

Nevermind, I got it. Just needed to scroll down.

Hmm.

Well we normally don't recommend that style, with the invisible set princesses in the head instead of one single center stone.

She really don't want to have a single diamond in nice affordable setting? I understand the appeal of the the invisible set stones because they do give you a lot of surface area for not a lot of money, but... again, we don't recommend them as they are not very stable settings.

Not only that, Kay diamonds are crap. You can get a much nicer stone for your money, but you will need to consider a simpler setting.

Something to consider, due to the fact that you're not really going to have an engagement period; Get a nice wedding ring now, maybe a 5-stone band or something, then save up and get her a nice engagement ring for an anniversary.

Totally agree with this!

Some great suggestions... But if you are dead set on the illusion settings. Here's a couple Estate rings crime Jewels by Grace.

Grace has an Art Deco that is similar

And a contempory

Both within budget.

Personally I would prefer this one... Not invisible set and an option to add a Blingy band later... High end of your budget and Tiffany to boot!

Thank you all for your responses. I will look at the links provided. One thing that I am worried about with her is that by just getting the wedding ring only she might not be happy not having an engagement ring for show to her friends and family. We are going to have a small house party the next day after the wedding and unsure how it iis going to look for her just to have and show a wedding ring only on her finger?

Maybe she just isn't aware she could get a larger stone for your price?

Id also tell her that if you get one solid stone it has an upgrade policy.

how about this (add millgraining)

ojtwelve, the Tiffany Lucida posted a few threads above would probably be very show-off worthy at the party at your house ...

This is a great option, it has the same feel/style as the settings she's been showing you, but with a solid center stone, and in budget. If it were me, this is what I'd choose.

From what you are showing us that she likes, I think she won't be happy with a small diamond solitaire. The best quality illusion type rings I have seen are from James Allen:

Ask them if this band works with it, or which one would work better:

I am still looking, but I think a lot of rings like this in mall stores are going to have I1 clarity diamonds and are going to be very poor quality.

Thank you all for yourhelp so far. Showed her some of the rings in the links and by the look on her face I got some more convincing to do.

Any chance she would consider other shapes? Princess cuts face up small. There are ther shapes that face up larger for the ctw. Pears and marquise for example. And they are both pointy like princesses. Sense you're shopping together might be worth exploring.

''The one from Kay's says it is H-I color and I1-I2 clarity...very poor quality and very overpriced in comparison to the ones I just linked you, which cost less. The one from Kay's likely has black carbon spots or bad feathers (cracks) in them that reduce the brilliance of the stones.

She didn't like this one?

She liked that one but by the time I added a 1/2 carat diamond the price went up tremendously and I did not even add a wedding ban yet.

Okay, of the ones she likes, this one has the best quality of diamonds:

This one says they use VS2 quality diamonds. Stick with that or SI1 but do not buy a set that has I1-I2 clarity because they can have visible inclusions.

This one is only sizable within one size. Does she wear close to a 7?

She wears a 7

Woo hoo I was able to convince her to get one with a single center diamond but she still wants those little mini diamond channel things on the ring. Let me know your thoughts on what I can get.

Oh good. I'd get the JA, BN combo. Unless she's open to other shape. Then I'd have to look for others.

Yes she is starting to like that marquis shape also. Hopefully I can get a good combo for $3k. Or close to it. Thanks to all for your help again so far. For me to learn about the quality of diamonds in such a short time would be difficult but you all help so far is appreciated.

She is liking the pear shape diamonds now. Thank you all for the other options that make the diamond look bigger.

Does she like halo settings?

She has not shown any interest in it so far.

A halo is going to greatly increase the size appearance of the center stone, and to buy a single center stone, you are looking at a very small one to get a whole set of rings and center stone for $3k.

We aren't going to recommend one of the pre-set sets because the quality of the diamond is unknown. But ask her if she is open to this style in any shape center:
