I never like to see most parts of a marquise gridles at thin or thinner than medium to slightly thick.

Proportions are prety useless to me. Can you get ASET or at least ideal-scope images?

Welcome fellow marquise lover!

. Even online vendors can get them (the best of them anyway). Numbers are a way to weed out the bad guys but good numbers in no way guarantee a beautiful marquise.

I don't know if you have seen these but there is quite a difference between a G and a J. Marquises show more color than a great cut round (especially near the points). For me, J is too low, but I am very nit picky about color. The medium blue in 2 and 3 may help to counteract the color a bit. With flouro. I would definitely want pictures, as it can somethimes not be such a good thing, though these diamonds are rare.

I don't care for the ex. thick girdle in #2. It just takes up weight that you won't see once the diamond is set.

#1 has decent numbers and specs, though it is slightly deep. Could still be a real looker however.

#3 is too deep for me to want to consider.

#2 may have visible inclusions; you would have to find that out.

Prices seem okay, not great. Are these online diamonds?

Really need pictures though, this information is just a start.

Thanks Garry and Jazmine for your opinions, I really appreciate your input. By the way Jazmine I saw your gorgeous east west mq ring on one of the other threads....... I love it!!!!!!!!!! love it!!!!!!!!!!!! love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are a lucky girl :) I did get some pics of the stones i mentioned in my post above, but wanted to give a little more background on my quest!!!!! DH and I have been married 11 wonderful years and we have talked about upgrading my mq center stone in my wedding ring which is .25. The ring was purchased at Zales (gasp)!!!!!! of course knowing what i know now from lurking on PS we would not purchase from there again. I will say though I went to Zales a couple of months ago when they had their jewelry restyling show to see what they had for loose mq stones, the one they showed me was about 1.01 carats, E color, I3+ Clarity (do not remember all of the other specs) anyway the stone was $10,000, they came back and said they would give it to me for $5500 (felt uneasy about the whole thing and I walked away) I will be honest I would like a mq that is going to look pretty sizable but obviously can''t afford a 2ct+. I know from reading the different posts that if you are going for a larger size stone unless you have the budget and can afford top color, clarity and cut you will have to possibly compromise on one or two of these things.

With MQ''s where do you compromise?

The store where I found these 3 stones is a b&m store here im my area however it is not a chain store, its called Borsheims and is very well known and reputable.

Below are three pics (the 1.56 carat has been sold). The pics are of a 1.20, 1.23 and 1.53, what do you think?

Do any of these stones look good????

I don't know much about marquise cuts but I'm surprised that the colour difference between the F and G is visible to me. Also, the G seems to have a less noticeable bow-tie than the other two. The I stone also looks dull/non sparkly.

That G looks promising and has less bowtie but it is tilted in the pic compared to the other 2...more pics of it would be great.
