Hi everyone - this forum has been incredibly helpful (thank you!). I'm in love with antique stones but wasn't sure it was in the budget until I came across this 1.7 M VS2. I think its beautiful but am afraid I'm missing something - would love your expert opinions!

Specs are 47% table, 69% depth, large culet and girdle is rated thin/very thin. It presents large for its size (1.7c).

I think it’s very pretty! Lovely stone

Have you seen it in person? If not, can you return it if you don’t love it? I’m curious especially if you like the warmth of the color

What are the dimensions?

One thing to note - the girdle is very delicate, so that setting may be a little precarious because they are exposed - given that the inclusions are around the edges, it’s definitely a little vulnerable to have the girdle exposed, especially if you don’t consider yourself to be clumsy (like I do)

Thanks so much! I have seen it in person :) I'm planning to go with an all gold setting which I think will be a nice compliment to the warmer color, which I like!

Dimensions are 7.5 x 7.2. I am also clumsy so the thin girdle is definitely something to consider - thank you for calling that out!

I’d personally put her in a bezel, faux bezel, or do 6-8 prongs. I’m also pretty risk averse so that’s just my 2 cents

It’s a great face up size for the weight!

I was going to suggest a bezel or faux bezel too. I think it's a pretty stone.

It is a very pretty stone!! I love it. I hope you do too!

I would echo what the others suggest in terms of setting. Good luck!

Thanks all! I'm risk averse so would go with 6 or 8 prongs (the stone is just resting here - this is not the setting I would choose). If a bezel is an absolute must, I will likely keep looking.

Unless your benchperson advises differently after inspecting your OMC, in general most VS2 diamonds with a Very Thin girdle should be fine with 6-8 prongs -- if your OMC had an Extremely Thin girdle however I would be encouraging you to seriously consider a bezel setting.

I think your OMC is very attractive and should look great in yellow gold!

pretty stone!

I think a bezel here is an absolute must because the girdle is already chipped quite a bit.
look at the plot, it's not normal to have so many chips around the edges... unless it's an old stone with a very thin girdle that needs to be protected

Ah so pretty! Like a golden drop of water. The lightplay looks good, nothing is always dark or light.
