Hello Everyone,
The setting on my engagement ring is set quite high. I am a preschool teacher, and am afraid that the stone might injure someone. For my fellow Pricescopers out there who have a high setting, can you give me advice? The appraiser told me that it could not be set any lower. Thanks in advance. :-)

Is your stone sizeable? If it''s not really large (what Iwould consider over a carat and a half) then I can''t imagine why you couldn''t have the setting recrafted or altered to lower it.

Im sure one of the pros will pop in here with a better professional opinion but if you can, post a photo and some specs so we can all chime in with more effective answers.

:)

Hello,
Thanks for your response ame :-). The stone is a red spinel and is anywhere from 1.6-1.75 carats. Can someone tell me if the ring setting looks like it is set to high? The appraiser said it was an "atypical" height, and I am not used to wearing jewelry, so I have no real way of knowing. Thanks in advance for all your help. :-)

Well it doesn''t look really high from the side, but I think that the stone can be lowered in the setting a little more.
