HI. I was thinking about upgrading my Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring. It is beautiful, but I was wondering what was out there in a bigger and more vivid stone. My sapphire is about 2.89 carats, and the diamond weight is .94 carats.
My question is , has anyone had any experiences with the above mentioned vendors. I need help. Also don't know who would buy my present ring. :wall: :wall: :wall:

Reviews about NSC is more negative than positive although there is a minuscule amount of good experiences. Doing a search will bring up a LOT of reviews. They have many more poorly cut stones than well cut stones but if you search hard enough, you will find some that are well cut. Pricing is on the expensive side so I'd advice to wait for a sale or discount offering. If buying an untreated stone, I would request an independent lab memo, not their in-house lab report.

As for NYGems, most of them are lacking in both colour and cut, in addition to being overpriced for what they are. Most are lacking in both colour and cut and most of the lab reports accompanying the sapphires are from labs that are overly generous with their grading. Again, there are already reviews and threads on this vendor's stones.

Here's the list of vendors where most have had good experiences with. Even if the stone didn't look as expected, there were no issues with returns and refunds.

My nephew asked me to help find a vivid blue sapphire for an engagement ring since he knows I love colored stones and have bought quite a few. I searched the net checked prices then called a NY Stone dealer I know. The dealer called in some stones that were available. I found one that was perfect for my Nephew and was close to his budget not like the ones I had seen online at Natural Sapphire. The stone I purchase was one that was listed on Natural Sapphire and I paid 1/2 the price. I know it was the same stone because it was the exact dimensions and size plus as soon as I bought it it was removed from their website.

I forgot to ask. Are you looking for untreated, just heated or open to other treatment? Are you looking for cornflower or royal blue? What size? Does origin matter? These all determine price an where I would look.

I really don't mind heat treated. I would like something in the 4 carat range, vivid velvety blue. I don't know of any trustworthy dealers.
I saw a ring on Israel Rose, but all of their rings look too good and and I heard that the color you see on the computer isn't what you get.
I also had a communication problem with them.

Heated makes it easier but 4cts brings it into a different price point per carat. I think we paid about $3,500/ct for the 2.5ct unheated vivid blue. I will post a pic of the ring after it was finished. I would think you could find a heated stone in the 4ct vivid VS category for about $2000-$2500/ct

That is nice. You are right as I said $2,000 if you find a real bargain to $2,500 /ct.

We didn't. My sister loves to design her jewelery and we have someone that can make whatever you draw very cheap. We then get to pick all the center stones and diamond quality. This was her son getting engaged. My forte is picking colored stones. I will have to have his fiancee take pics of the entire ring from different angles.

Sorry I just realized I may have answered the wrong question. Do you mean vender for the ring or the stone?

might as well post the ring on loupetroop. Is a good time of ear to sell your stuff, as a lot of proposals around Christmas time.

Jerry Gil LTD in NYC. His son Adam Gil goes under Paraiba International on the internet. I dealt with them years ago. They are not the cheapest but do have or can source some of the best material. I just sold them a couple of my 10ct Fanta Mandarin Garnets and Brazilian Paraibas.

Hi. I looked up Jerry Gil, and they look to be wholesalers only. Am I missing something?

I started dealing with him through his son Adam at Paraiba International. I didn't realize he was a wholesaler. Call and talk to Adam they are in the same office. Both are very nice.

Price is under the gem ID, it's $10240. If size is your priority then this is a good one to consider; if you'd prefer a more vivid colour you'll have to go down in size.

MJO and LI are correct; the Litnon sapphire is priced as such because the colour is far from vivid.

I am excited about looking for a stone! Now, hubby and I are in negotiations about when I will be able to get this upgrade......
Maybe in a couple of months...argh.. I've been wanting an upgrade for a while now.
Keep me up to date on any stones like the ones you have found.May have to go down in size to 4 carats.
Appreciate all of your help! :appl: :appl:

I told hubby 8-10,000 for stone. I like oval or maybe cushion.

You are correct. If it was vivid I would expect to pay around 10,000/ct. for vivid blue Unheated of that size.

I prefer cushions but they are much harder to find than ovals.

I have never tried on a cushion sapphire, but they look beautiful online.
Do they look smaller per carat as they do in diamomds?

They do look smaller but I just like the look of the cushion cut in a ring.
