Ok, l am starting a new thread. I am sharing my birthstones for the begining: Alexandrite, Pearl, Moonstone. Thanks to all members who supported me, especially 'thirdrock' , Autumn in New England and Daisys and Diamonds. I hope the better times will come... Ahh so you're a June baby too?! I remember thinking that I hated pearls as a kid (I love them now) and I had no idea what alexandrite was. So I always wished I had been born in May or July instead! But nowadays, I'd say we have some pretty cool birthstones. Thanks for sharing your pretties!!

P.S. Where's the black kitty? :wavey:

I didn’t realize that June had 3 birthstones choices. It’s nice that you have options. I love pearls and moonstones.

l love Amazonite, but l don"t know if that is topic for this forum, easily available, inexpensive, so it is considered semi precious gemstone? It's soothing and kind somehow.

Anyone knows about Italian jewelry? I am not sure if I posted this ring earlier. There are 2 markings: 925 and *2049 Vl. The last marking IMG_20220410_161927.jpg stands for Vicenza , Italy and the number stands for jewelry store where it was made. That's what I found on net. What do you think what are the chances the stone is natural.? IMG_20220410_161850_HDR.jpg IMG_20220410_162017.jpg IMG_20220410_161944.jpg Looks like peridot to me.

Yes please to your Amazonite! Any natural stones with color are welcome here. =)2

And if I had to guess, I would suspect peridot as well for your ring.

The stone looks like Peridot (in colour) but might be CZ because shows no signs of wear while the metal looks worn. Another clue, it's well cut, Peridot is rarely so symmetrically cut and is mostly native cut. CZ is cut by machines so it's more symmetrical.
Cubic Zirconia has a hardness of 8.5 on Mohs scale, silver is max 3.
Check for doubling of facets, Peridot will show doubling as it's double refractive.

Doesn't mean it is CZ, I might be wrong, it's just my first impression.

Do you like colour-changing stones in general, or is it only Alexandrite that you really like?

like them all, l have some synthetics stones, Diaspore, synthetics color change sapphire, even some colour glass, but Alexandrite (l guess synthetics) was my first stone and is my birth stone. actually l didn"t know about Alexandrite, l learnt about it 3 year ago accidentaly and since then, l am enchanted. I learnt about Alexandrite by accident, decades ago.
At an Antique centre housed in an old industrial building I bought what I thought was a sweet little amethyst charm on a fine gold bracelet. $60. After I’d finished paying I went outside into the sunshine to wait for my mother whose purchase were being packed up for her. I looked down and went “what?”. It was now a blue green colour. I went back inside and it was purple again. Back outside, blue green.
I actually thought it was like a “mood ring” stone. Remember those, they changed colour depending on the heat from your finger.
I’ve since reset it into a ring. C468C1E2-6369-4964-B2FE-C0591CC84FC9.jpeg

So it's sterling silver and made in Italy. I think it could definitely be natural peridot. Pretty!

I love amazonite!! Here is a set I purchased several years back. I have the matching ring around here somewhere. As I recall, the best material comes from Peru.

One more of my unidentified gems. Paid next to nothing, it reads on diamond tester ll, l guess it's not a glass. There are 2 markings: 925 and Agrx. It's light blue greenish , reminds me of Aquamarine, but would like to know your opinions. Thank you. IMG_20220411_100713_HDR.jpg IMG_20220411_123511.jpg

It really depends on the lighting conditions, and even then, it varies from stone to stone. In daylight and fluorescent light, my wife’s earrings look a little bit brighter than her ring when it comes to the greens/blues, but her ring shows pinkish purple in incandescent light versus just purple for her earrings.

my stones are teal only in shade and fluorescent light, in sunshine they are deep purple. it also depends on geographical coordinates.

things are not as they seem at first glance. 70% of my collection is thrifted. actuelly, we were robbed more than 15 years ago, all my and my mum"s jewelry was stolen. together with some paintings. now l only have what we acquired last years,. anyway, if something is for me , it will find its way.

I was actually commenting to Bron357. I had read a post from years ago where she won a bid on boxes of rusted tins that ended up containing a huge amount of real gems! Along with the story about her accidentally purchasing an alexandrite, I figured she has some major manifesting mojo. I was hoping she would share the secret!

I’m sorry to hear about your robbery. That’s awful! I’m hoping that some of your pretty thrifted purchases end up being great finds too!
