It's tough to get a really detailed shot of her ring, but I would love to see it if anyone has good pics.
What are your thoughts on her ring?
How would you change it to go with a modern round brilliant?
What details would you give a custom jeweler about how to design this setting for a modern round brilliant?

Thanks!
:twirl:

Is this what you are looking for? If so it is a pave double halo with a round centre diamond with no gap between the first halo and the centre stone and an airline gap between the first and second halo. I found this site that actually makes suggestions of other not exactly the same but sort of similar rings if you click on the arrow it gives you 9 alternative options;

Many antique rings have the airline gap but you could also do a more modern version so I think you could use a RB or an OEC.

Thank you!
Even though I am growing a bit tired of halos (though they are mostly sill lovely), there is something about this design that gives off classic elegance.

It seems perfect for her!

I wonder if it is 3 sided pave, I can't find a super dooper close up to see if it is or not, the band almost looks like it is in the above pics, but they are not clear enough to tell. Yet it looks much more clearly like one row of single pave in the band in this photo;

It looks like it is 3 sided pave.
Does anyone know how to save the photo and enlarge it?
I may need to recruit my daughter though I don't know if we will see more than blur.

Check out the new image I found above, it looks like metal on the side of the band (like single pave) not more diamonds. Hard to tell, maybe the other members can find even better close up pics or a full description for us.

On closer inspection, I think you're right!
Thanks for your help!

:-)

I just googled some more;

It says it is a pave double halo (no mention of 3 sided pave) genuine Antique OEC in recycled Platinum. Made by the jeweller in the second picture above, her name is Jamie Wolf here is her website (Natalie's ring was rumoured to cost $35 000);

She makes expensive but stunning Antique bands :D pretty bracelets too!!!!

I am sure you could do a modern version with a round brilliant instead of an OEC. I am not sure if I am a big fan of the huge donut which is pave set on the bottom of the basket. Again it's really difficult to see the the underneath basket part in fine detail.

That is certainly a very modern setting and more suitable to a modern round brilliant stone, in my opinion. Victor Canera would be my choice to make this one.

Thanks for the tip
I wonder what the setting would cost

I am not sure about wanting that big basket underneath. Any thoughts on that?

I prefer a minimal (or no) basket too, so a wedding ring fits under it nicely.

But with a double halo - I don't know but it might not look attractive, like a big flying disc around your stone. I think it's doable though, and VC will certainly have some suggestions.

I think it looks beautiful as is, and would work well with a modern round brilliant.

Not sure if anyone posted this shot. I shows a more detailed prong angle.

Hi lawmax :wavey:
My engagement ring is similar, but with a single halo. I love the basket; it is actually one of my favorite parts, and my wedding ring sits right under it. It is from michael b.

It is a bit like a flying disc! uh oh!
Until one sees it on her own hand, it's tough to tell if it's flattering.

Iluvcarats--your ring is lovely! I just tried on an old Michael B. style with a lower halo and donut halo under that with a split shank that looked rather elegant on my hand. I don't know if Michael B. makes it anymore. I think it's an old style but need to investigate. It was very expensive at my local jeweler and I did not care for the antisemitic remark he felt the need to make.

My finger is a size 4 and and very long. After trying on some rings today, it seems like the split shank style that totally separates and takes up more length of the finger may be what I need.
I really want to show off whatever stone I buy and see all the flashes of light. I don't want the girdle totally covered up.

Suggestions are always welcome!

Thanks lawmax. I wouldn't buy anything from a vendor who made racists remarks either. :nono:
You have gotten great advice. Michael b. is really expensive. If I were to do it again, I would commission Leon. Although I've heard he is a character ;) , every time I see his work, my heart skips a beat. I've never met him, so I can't vouch for his personality, but his jewelry speaks for itself. That's my .02 anyway.

Michael B. Is crazy expensive.
My recent conversation with Leon was so shockingly reprehensible that there is no way I would do business with him or recommend him to my clients.
Moods, egos, greed, chutzpah...
He has plenty of competition now compared to when I discovered him in 2000 and introduced his name into this forum.
Enough said.

Still looking for a photo of that older Michael B. Split shank. It split all the way down and spread in a curvy, lacy way across the finger. Good for long fingers like mine.

Pearlman's carries Michael B., maybe they can help you. Also, there are a couple of split shank Michael B. settings on Ebay. Not sure if it's the one you are looking for or not. Good luck lawmax! Can't wait to see what you pick :wavey:

Hi! I got a quote from Jamie Wolf for another halo ring and it was $6500. With Leon's reputation and prices, you may as well go straight to the source.

Good point!!!!!!!
Still working on my diamond search and maybe another interesting setting! :cheeky:
