I didn''t know she was pregnant!!

Saw her last night on Larry King Live, talking about her pregnancy and introducing her babies - she has a little girl and a little boy. How nice!

What shocked me is that she is 47 years old!!

They didn''t say whether she used fertility treatments or not... although I suspect she did, since it must be quite difficult to get pregnant naturally at her age. She also had a very complicated pregnancy, and was hospitalized in November for blood clots in her lungs.

I just thought it was all so interesting, with her being an older mom and all. She''ll be 50 years old when her children are about 3... wow. She defintely sounds very happy to be a mother, though, nd wished she had done it a long time ago. I"m happy for her.

Thoughts?

They were born a few days after I had my daughter. I am happy for her. She has said she never imagined herself married with children and what a wonderful surprise it has been. I know she was engaged before but he was killed. I think she has been through a lot.

Yes, she took fertility treatments and used IVF; she has admitted it. *Oops babies* might occassionally happen at 47, but if you really, really want one, you usually can''t do it without the extra help (and at that age, someone else''s eggs). Nearly all of the celebs who have had babies at 40+ years of age used IVF to get pregnant.

She was on Larry King last night...I thought she was sweet and very down to earth about the whole thing. I loved that she said that even though she''d been a lawyer (and I think prosecuter), she wished she would''ve done the whole baby thing 20 years ago. She showed a lot of emotion during the interview and you could tell she is really, really in love with her children. She did say the best day of her life was when she got to bring home her daughter, and that was after she got to bring home her son...I thought it was so nice, and so sweet the way she expressed how emotional she was about both of those days. I''m not a big NG fan, but to see a mom (and a celebrity mom at that) talking about her experience was very cool. I really admire her.

I think she can be a little rude to her guests sometimes but DH and I really enjoy watching her show. I guess I like the no nonsense aspect (a little sass never hurt anyone). Every time someone would congratulate her on the show or she would talk about her pregnancy she would get misty eyed. I thought it was very sweet as well.

Yes, I find her to be really DRAMATIC too, but I do watch her show sometimes.

I heard that she wanted to keep the marriage secret for a while, I think she said it was because she didn''t want to jinx anything. She also said after her fiance died in the 1970''s, that she focused all her energy on her career. She was afraid of falling in love and losing someone again.

She really does seem to enjoy being a mother, and I''m glad she had the opportunity to do so. I thought it was strange that she took so long to admit to having fertility treatments, though - I don''t think most people would expect her to have a child naturally at her age.

I wonder if other women her age (48?) would be inspired to follow in her footsteps?

Sha, my first thoughts when I saw this was...."WHERE HAS SHE BEEN?" but then I realized I am a one of the few crazy celebrity lovers, etc. who lives in Southern California.

I think she is based out of Atlanta/NYC. She brought it up on her show almost nightly. I think it was cute how excited she was plus I could relate since I was pregnant at the same time. How scary her health scare was. I think she should inspire women in their 40s. Of course she is wealthy and has a full time nurse. I often think how WONDERFUL that would be.

I have to say I am excited for her as her love for her children is apparent, and I'm sure she has the resouces and help that anyone would want. That being said, I really hope any woman who watches her show and thinks they can carry a pregnancy at the age of 47 understands the very real and serious medical risks associated with doing so. It can be very dangerous to a woman's health at such an advanced age, although I'm sure some women are fine. My grandmother's mother had her at age 45 without any fertility treatments so it does happen naturally as well. It just can be very risky and hopefully any woman thinking of going in this direction would discuss this first with her doctor.

Does anyone else find her annoying?

Tacori-Oh, I know she lives back east....but I live in LA where anything that has to do with celebrities is mentioned in the newspaper, morning news, evening news, etc....and you are right, she mentioned it on her show numerous times....

PennQuaker-I find her a bit annoying at times, too :) (You go to Penn, right? I am an alumn of a GSE program)...

I don''t know why but DH and I like her. Like I said before she can be rude sometimes and I don''t always agree with her but I like how direct she is. I like how her show is formated too.
