So my cheap little red spinel is here and my mom has dropped off her diamond earrings for me to use as sidestones. They''re not the prettiest, I''m sure they''re at least I1 clarity but you have to look look hard to see the inclusions with the naked eye, but hey, they were free so no complaints here. One earring is more heavily included than the other but still I think all together they should make a decent ring to wear as a right hander.

It looks like I''ll have a cheaper, less attractive version of AGBF''s beautiful 3 stone spinel ring. (hopefully her spinel quandry can be worked out soon) But, here it is......

YAY! I''m so glad you posted about your spinel again. I was wondering if the color turned out to be as it was described. Does the color look like that of ruby to you?

This is a project I have on my list for the future as well. I''m so paranoid to buy a colored stone over the net because I''m so picky about color, so I hope to find something at an upcoming gem show.

When do you plan to have the ring made?

The color is nice but is a little darker than the picture in the auction. Something to keep in mind for those purchasing stones off of Ebay. Still, I'm happy with it. I'm debating on whether to use the diamonds with my spinel or with my sapphire I bought and put the spinel in a different setting. I've got a pink spinel coming that I won for $27 and I'm waiting to see how I like it before I decide. I still have my two .30 pear sidestones that I bought and am currently wearing as earrings but had planned all along to use as sidestones once the right stone comes along.

I've already gotten a quote from my jeweler for a setting and mounting if I use the sapphire and round diamonds, I'm sure substituting the spinel wouldn't change the price any. I just need to get myself down there to drop off the stones and my ring will be on it's way.

$27!!!

Yup, $27 plus 6 dollars shipping. It''s more of a peachy color but still VERY pretty and sparklie. I can''t decide if it would look better set in white or yellow gold.

Side by side with my red spinel. It''s 1.55, the pink one is 2.33.

What a bargain! I think that''s going to come together in a very nice way Pearcrazy. Three stone rings are such beautiful, classic delights. Good of your mom to kick in the earrings. Are you going to have it done soon?
