My new WSS pearl purchase

I took a chance, and bought a Mikimoto white south sea pearl on RealReal for $1500. I waited for a good while before it came down this low from the original $6500 price. It is actually a tie pin, but I can easily reuse and make into a pendant to go with my pearl earring studs. According to the valuation report from RealReal, the pearl is 13-13.5, round, pink and excellent luster. I have pics with it next to my studs, which are 13.50, round, pink and very good luster. I am very pleased with my purchase and certainly the price!

I notice that in TRR's photos the pearl has a rainbow
Do you see this at all IRL, in lightbox-esque lighting?

I saw that but wasn’t sure if it has to do with the pink purple shirt I was wearing.

I see it now, in the photo from the website. Yes, it has something like that. I think the studs do too, just cannot capture it on my camera. Kind of blue tones. It is really an amazing pearl. I think the luster is just a tad more too, and the surface slightly smoother.

Interesting! If you’re able to capture the rainbow in pics I would LOVE to see - my understanding is that one or two colours like pink+green or pink+silver/blue is quite normal, but a full spectrum rainbow like TRR’s pics show is very rare!

(For folks using a phone - turn your screen brightness up all the way or check on your computer, otherwise you’ll see is a circle around what appears to be a whole lotta nothin’. It’s subtle!)

Sorry - I didn’t follow this part. The luster and smoothness that you see in-person is better than what TRR’s or your photos show? Or were you comparing your studs and pendant-to-be?
