Hi folks,

I took last friday off from work, as we are two months into a huge renovation at my office and as office manager have had to deal with all the problems. I needed a "me" day. I found myself driving to a small jewelry store that has been around for years that deals with estate pieces. I''ve always loved this place, years ago I purchased an antique diamond and platinum watch for my daughter. They always have nice pieces there and I think part of it is the demographic, between Scottsdale and the Biltmore area of Phoenix.

I told the owner that I''d been looking for a diamond in the j-m range, roughly 1.50 - 2.50, eye clean and either older cuts or a modern round brilliant. As he showed me diamonds, one intrigued me. He said he had taken it out of a gentlemans ring. He had it listed as a 2.12 RB, K-L, I-1. The clarity scared me, but it sparkled like mad! It was totally eye clean and faced up very white. I looked at it through a gemscope and saw the inclusions. As a matter of fact, the inclusions remind me of the images listed in another post about infinity I-1 diamonds.

I asked if we could take it outside and look at it in natural light. Being Phoenix, the sun was hot and bright and that diamond was totally eye clean and sparkled! I asked if I purchase this what would be the return policy? Could I return it if the appraiser said I might have problems with this stone, he said no problem. Since I had purchased items from him in the past, and I know that most of his clients have been coming to him for years, I feel comfortable with this. I asked him what is the best price he could do and with taxes it''s about 5500.00 plus tax. I bought it. I have a call into an appraiser and will take it in on Monday. Yesterday, I took it in to another jeweler that is much closer to me, who I''ve had discussions with in the past. One of her suppliers happen to be in and looked at it. He said that he felt it was a very nice cut and that he feels that the color is more in the I-J range.

We''ll see what the appraiser feels. I''m hoping that it''s a keeper.

My fingers are firmly crossed that it checks out, it sounds great!

Thanks! I''m hoping that after tomorrow my biggest issue with it is finding something to put it in

Best wishes that it''s the stone for you.
