I am recently engaged and very excited.
We located an OEC engagement ring and bands in New Orleans over the new year.
On Royal Street there are many vintage/estate/old diamond rings and settings.
Of course my guy wanted a new diamond and a new setting, ect.
I tried them on and they seemed (to me personally from what I was trying on-quite gaudy and too shiny, if that is possible.)
The diamond we found is an OEC 1.56ct, H/VS1
It is very hard to find comparable diamonds and we want to feel confident about our purchase.
He is sending it for certification/gemologist to guarantee the stats we were told.
I think he is dead set on having the diamond reset in a very similar custom setting. I am happy with the current setting and would probably only tweak it a bit.
But I have heard good and bad things about resetting it.
I have heard that the OEC diamonds cost less than the round brilliant diamond of the same size/color. From what I have understood this is anywhere between 20-30% in price reduction. Is this accurate information?
Any advice on how you went about your purchasing/decision making/etc.
I have been reading this website for a bit and have done my research. Just need good second opinions.
Have any of you that chose an OEC diamond found themselves not satisfied or after acquiring the diamond decided it was not the right choice?
I would love any help!
