My first Mahenge spinel set!

Ok, so I've been on a bit of a roll lately - got tired of seeing stones in my jewelry box unset After the Gene garnet project is done I'll need to take a break and save for the next round, but I just picked this up today and am so excited, I had to share.

I got this Mahenge spinel from Jaimeen at PrimaGems in November at Intergem. I'd been drooling over the Mahenge thread nonstop, and had so much fun going to my first Intergem and seeing Mahenges in person. Jaimeen helped me pick out this hot pink oval stone - 2.24cts, 6.7x8.8mm.

I knew immediately that I wanted to put it in this setting I'd seen at Boone & Sons, and I tried to be good and wait but I just couldn't. So here she is! She looks a touch redder in these photos than she actually is.

Some hand shots.... I'm realizing I didn't do a very good job of capturing the color. It's this interesting vibrant pink sort of between pink and red... I feel like some of these it just looks pink and others red and it's really more in between.

Wow, this last one came out very baby pink and that is not really how the stone presents. Let me try again....

Ok, here we go. This is probably the closest pic so far to the color. Definitely plenty of contrast between my skin tone and the color, unlike the last pic showed.
