I have many great gemstone rings, unheated ruby sapphire’s color change gems but I have not yet picked up an emerald. This is my first…
I snagged this for 490 after tax and shipping. I’m excited to see what it looks like. I actually kind of want to make it a pinky ring. What do you think about that?

I won’t know who the maker was until I see the ring. I did put it in the ChatGPT in ChatGPT thinks it was probably made in Japan in the late 80s early 90s. I love the setting and I love the way the prongs are done. Any information would be useful thank you.

850 platinum
.4 carat emerald
.21 total carat, weight and diamonds

I'm a simple girl... I see a post entitled "my first emerald," and I click on it. Congratulations! It's a very sweet ring. :)

I love the whole thing!

Very pretty! Where did you find this?

It’s here.
It’s amazing in person, but slightly less weight than I imagined. No biggie.
It’s also cleaner than I imagined and overall just looks a lot better.

One thing I want to ask I have been using ChatGPT before I buy something kind of just to estimate cost things like that pick up anything notable. ChatGPTT estimate estimated this emerald originally to be Zambian but when I put in a lot of these close-up pictures it estimated with 80% probability that it’s a Colombian emerald lightly oiled. Do you all know enough about emeralds do you think that’s correct I think I’m going to eventually send it to G.I.A for a report

Prettier than it looked in the listing photos! I can't give you any more info on it, but it sounds like you're pleased. So congrats!!

lol how the heck would ChatGPT know anything about this? It’s a language replication program and it will make shit up.

Anyway, it’s beautiful!

I've found it to be very useful for medical conditions (I have an undiagnosed condition even Mayo Clinic can't diagnose and it's been correct on all the things my dr would say, etc) .

as to how would it know. I uploaded macro pictures of the stones. Obviously I don't know if its trustworthy on this but it did give me reasons it suspected Colombian over Zambian, etc. It said due to the hues of the stone and inclusions it saw and gave me a side by side list differentiating Zambian, Colombian etc Emeralds and how to tell.

I am ordering a GIA report now. I don't know anything about emeralds at all. If it's wrong it wont bother me one bit. I had no expectations in the first place.

I suppose my comment about chatGPT was rhetorical in that there is in fact no way to trust AI for much of anything information wise and certainly not grading gemstones! It’s a fantasy we have that somehow it is a useful source information. It isn’t yet. I find language learning models are incorrect more than half the time when you check their sources.

Oh OK no worries. I certainly don’t wanna argue about it, but I have found it to be exceptionally useful and accurate regarding my medical conditions and other things I’ve used it for like I said I have no way of knowing I’m just repeating what it estimated and it was only that an estimate

That's your best bet... the color looks Zambian, but the inclusions look Colombian. Either way, very pretty!!

Yeah, that’s basically what chat. GPT said it gave me the descriptions of the color shift of Zambian emeralds, and then the color shift of Colombian emeralds, and it originally pinpointed it as Zambian based on the manufacturer photos, but when I uploaded my own, it said that the color and inclusions were more like Colombian I don’t know anything about that, but I I don’t know how much the color shift of the actual photos would affect that I do photography professionally and I know sometimes photos can be a little warmer sometimes they can be a little cooler depending on where you take the picture can affect how the lighting looks so I don’t know how well it’s going to read that or how accurate that is based on photos vs in person inspection…

I originally didn’t have any intention of even getting a report on it but now I’m curious enough

All I really cared about in the beginning was that it was not synthetic
