I'm a new member but a long time reader of PriceScope.
Thanks a million to everyone who has posted everything and anything related to diamonds. This forum came in very handy during the 9 months it took to work out what engagement ring to buy for my girlfriend. Hopefully this will help someone else.
My girlfriend knew she wanted an Ashoka ring and told me she had seen one in New Zealand.
So I got her best friend who lives there to go into the jewelry shop they had been to.

I ended up buying:

The ring was priced at 13,950 New Zealand Dollars (9,386 USD or 7,286 GBP) according to today's exchange rate.
But the great thing about buying it in New Zealand is that you get the tax back when you fly it out of the country.
Their Goods and Services Tax (GST) is about 15% so in the end I paid 12,100 NZD / 8,142 USD / 6,320 GBP.
That's a 13.3% discount in my eyes.
Let me know what you think and if you have any questions I'll be happy to oblige!!
