Ok, I have a handful of sub-carat stones, and I have this design on mind, but I'm not sure if I should go ahead execute it.
Just would like to share with you and hear your opinions
WOW!! Did you design that yourself??? Its AWESOME!!! I'm with Davi - my mind wants it flipped as well, as tho it is a diamond curtain, you have to push open to walk thru, but I do like how it almost represents a "garden of beautiful flower diamonds"! Will the empty spaces be slightly larger than melee diamonds?
How did you arrive at this point? Did you have the design in a short/wide rectangle, or inverted triangle or any other shapes, first? Just interested in how the process was for you...
It is an amazing design!!! and it will be one MAJOR cool pendant!
I like it too. Never thought about flipping it till others mentioned it but it's really neat the way it is! Love the colors of the stones together. What metal do you have in mind for it?
How small are these sub-carat stones? When set all together, how big will this pendant be? Will it be like an Olympic sized medal? Will it end up being too heavy to wear comfortably?
The flipping idea is ... incredible, I think I even like the "Curtain" version better than the "Garden"
Thank you for the inspiration!! And which one do you like better?
And Chrono, no it won't be like a golden medal, it will be more like a silver medal considering I'm thinking of using white gold.
But it's not too big actually, the outier ring is ~31mm
The biggest stone is 0.97ct spinel heart, followed by 0.88 tsav cushion, 0.87 sapphire pear, 0.61 sapphire oval, 0.44 tsav princess and 0.44 chrys princess, but I'm afraid I don't have their face-up pic yet.
Babydoll - that looks AMAZING flipped!!! It suits my personal tastes because I'm more orderly than 'out there' but I do love it either way--- think you might be able to structure someway of suspending it from either end? That would mean you couldn't ahve the stones set as dangles, they'd have to be soldered to be rigid, but it would be pretty neat to be able to flip it if you felt like it. "Today I am funky = "garden setting"; tomorrow I am OCD ="curtain setting!"
You are very talented!! And I agree - a silver medal/metal ( ) Is how I envisioned it in my mind... but what about making one or two of the chains in either a YG or a RG??? Or not - but what do you think???
Chrono, the main stones will be just stationary, I want them facing forward all the time rather than dangling and tilting.
And yes, I drew it with pencil, ruler and compass, it's like primary school all over again
I wish I knew how to use CAD tool, but I don't , so I tried many times to make things seem to be right proportion.
Enerchi, thank you! For such a big pendant, yes I think multiple chains is a brilliant idea, and yes, I love the idea of having one YG chain. Designing the pendant to be wearable from both side though, might be a bit too challenging for me.
My biggest concern of executing this pendant, is that I'm worried that it might be difficult to handcraft it exactly how I designed. Given that the stones are of different shape, size, height, I don't know how much precision can be achieved during the setting process. If one stone is off the position by say 1mm, it could change the overal look dramatically. So I'm a bit nervous to move forward.
Do you think YOU are going to be creating this or do you have a PS vendor in mind, to bring this to life? Maybe bringing your design to someone who could specialize in fine details, they may have a few ideas as to how to make it 'flip-able', if that intrigues you!
I think it is amazing, I'm really excited about watching this develop - you'll have to start a thread to bring us along in the process with you!!!
love the original design....which i thought should be flipped.
however, now that i've seen it flipped and the reverse "arch" added to the now top....well, i don't like that arch! i find it a distraction that leaves a "hole" at the top of the pendant that i don't find attractive.
can't it be flipped w/o adding that "reverse arch"?
