Looking around at photos of rings on web sites and that people have posted, I''ve noticed that (to my eye) almost every ring has the diamond mounted as "crooked".
What I mean is, when looking from the top, the arrows don''t line up with the band or the prongs. In fact, the diamond just seems to be at some arbitrary angle. I''m sure this would aggravate me to no end! What''s the point of ideal symmetry and hearts and arrows if the stone isn''t even going to be mounted straight, anyway...
For example, look at: http://www.goodoldgold.com/pictures_of_settings.htm
The only round that even looks close to straight to my eye is the Sheldon Speyer. All of the others I would consider unacceptable.
Is it difficult to mount the diamonds straight? Is there something about the prongs or angles that I don''t know about? I''m I being unreasonable by insisting that the stone is mounted so that the arrows line up exactly with the band?
