Our wedding was little over a year ago, and I never posted pictures thinking you''d find them... slightly odd. But, inspired by Lilac''s wedding, I am posting a few non-pro pics (the pro are unfortunately only in hard copy) of our Orthodox Jewish wedding with a twist. I am your run of the mill Eastern European-descended American Jew, but my husband''s family hails from Central Asia- Uzbekistan, to be specific. Their traditions are rich and made our wedding, in the eyes of many who attended, "the most fun wedding ever." Hope you enjoy!

This first few pics were while were were taking pictures before the ceremony.

Mom and sisters. I gave everyone a color, and let them go wild- and loved the results! Since I have so much close family, I didn''t have other bridesmaids. 3 sisters + 2 of my cousins + 2 of his cousins seemed like enough. Mom, younger sister and oldest sister custom made dresses (Orthodox modesty laws are pretty strict, and it is often easier to design from scratch than work with an old design), and middle sister found this amazing 1920s vintage dress.

The wedding took place at an old temple with attached hall. I loved getting married in a synagogue, especially this one!

Waiting at the badeken. The bride is seated in the main cocktail room, and visitors come over to wish her well. The groom then comes in with a crowd of men to check that it is indeed her before veiling her.

You were a lovely bride (and you''re very pretty on your own). How fun to give your wedding a little twist by employing parts of his culture; it sounds like it was a unique and meaningful day for you both.

Tell us more about yourself. How did you and your husband meet?

What a beautiful wedding! I love how rich in culture and tradition you made your day.

I think it''s important to note that just because us US brides have more "liberal" standards for weddings, it doesn''t make them any more or less beautiful than others.

In the end, every bride wants her wedding to be uniquely theirs, but we are all doing the same thing everyone else is doing. We are making that commitment to our life partner before everyone in the world.

Your photos are amazing!

What a lovely wedding -- and you were a beautiful bride!

I loved the gowns your mother and sisters wore. They coordinate amazingly well, and the overall look, with all those textures and fabrics, is so luxurious!

I wouldn't mind looking at more pictures - hint, hint!
