I am a size 7.5. But my finger size is determined by the meaty part of my finger under my knuckle. So I feel like my fingers are sort of puffy. But they are on the longer side. I am going to go tomorrow and try on some things. But in your experience, what are the most flattering types of settings for more fleshy fingers? Solitaires? Halos? Thinner bands? Thicker bsnds? any help is appreciated!

My advice is avoid settings with lots of designs underneath, because
you can't see it with fleshy fingers. I think cathedral settings look
best on my puffy fingers. As for width I personally don't seem to like
anything wider than 3mm maybe 4mm. But I also have short fingers.
So I like thinner bands. Diamond wise I have no advice on that sorry,
other than the bigger the better.
What shape of diamond do you like?

Thank you so much! I have a 1.5 carat round brilliant diamond that I would like to reset

i feel like I have puffy fingers and after trying on a lot of rings, I felt like split shank looked nice on my fingers, but I didnt like the style when the gap is so wide in the split so I modified it to make it a bit shorter. I dont know if that makes sense but I've included a photo. I think its very flattering! If I were doing it again however, I would make the width of the band a little wider (I feel like the ring/setting/mounting itself is too thin on my fleshy finger and doesnt look substantive enough )

My engagement ring is a size 7.25 and feel like under the knuckle is fleshy. I didn't try on rings before purchasing - we were on super budget.

I think a wider band is better, none of this 1.8 and 2mm stuff for me! And something going on on the sides too, a solitaire is too plain and seems to draw attention. I like more like the split shank that's pictured above.

Puffy fingers, I have them!

Here is my EC in a low profile setting, as I dislike high profile settings myself.

The middle finger is size 10.5 US, and the ring finger is 9.5 US, and my hands are only size 6 to 6.5 (as in small).

Here is another ring recently re-sized to fit my finger:

Again, it is quite low profile for a cluster ring.

NOT thinner bands. Thinner bands to me just seem to show how puffy the finger is. I think a little bit wider (between 2 and 3mm)
is more in proportion with the finger. Plus make sure the ring is the correct size. Too tight and it makes for finger muffin top.
I think split shanks help.

Add me to the puffy finger club! My fingers are small, but fleshy and I have no knuckles.

I find that wispy settings don't look good on me. I prefer halos with some kind of flared shank/shoulder. Like a reverse taper (wider at the top of the shoulders) or a split shank. Something about the curvy lines of those types of settings add shape to my otherwise breakfast-sausage like finger.

If I do go with a dainty shank, then I like to stack with several bands. And make sure my rings don't fit too tight, which only emphasizes the fleshiness. Though, with no knuckles to hold them on I can't let them be too loose or they'll fly right off. SIGH. It's a balancing act!

a cushion halo i think would flatter, puffy halo, puffy hands

ps, i dont think 7.5 is that large, thats my size (sausage fingers unite!)

Thank you for all the responses. I've been married for 11.5 years and am thinking of a reset. I think we are going to look today.

Oh, and for the record. I don't think a 7.5 is big at all. My grandmother wears an 8. But she has long, thin piano player hands. I am just thankful my fingers are longer so they look somewhat proportionate. They are just meaty under the knuckle!

When my gf and I went shopping to try on shapes, we noticed that settings with square-ish sides seem to be less flattering than rounds. I think the horizontal line of square shaped settings/stones or wider bands cuts the finger off-sort of like capri shorts and ankle straps cutting the length of the leg off (most of the time at least) Round shapes seem to take away from the general length/width of the finger.

Yeah, it's definitely more a shape of the finger than the size of the finger. I've not noticed the square vs rounded sides thing but that makes sense.

Tapered sides will be very flattering (broader at the top).
Here is mine! I have knuckly instead of puffy fingers by the way, but I feel this design works for both:

This has been my setting. I want to have a setting that is sort of vintage inspired. But substantial. And has a straight band that can be worn alone. I am just struggling to find things to try on in the world of 2mm pave!

The tapering sides and split shank (that doesn't make too large of a V) really look lovely on that finger type!!

I echo many of the ideas here. Not TOO thin - not too tight. I think set up off the finger - maybe cathedral - Tapered band - maybe even tapering in - split shank - I think geometric shapes looks better too - emerald, rectangular, square

I also have puffy 7.25 fingers and found the tapered Sholdt semi-bezel very flattering. I have my EC set in the plain WG setting but eventually would like to buy a round & will set it in the setting with the pave & milgrain. Here's a link to Love Affair Diamonds showing the
Sholdt semi-bezel with Pave & milgrain. http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/r379d-semi-bezel-with-pave/

This setting is the bomb for a round diamond, in my opinion
ericad is the proprietress of this business & sells the Sholdt line.

That's very similar to my rings! They look find on my left hand which isn't puffy, but they're meant to be worn on my right hand which is very puffy. The band of the ring is a bit on the thin side to good look on me I think.

I must admit I do not believe any of you have puffy fingers except me!!!

Here is another pic of the ruby cluster ring on my LH ring finger, as it looked rather tight in the pic posted above for some reason.
