According to a press release just released in the electronic version of National Jeweler Magazine, the Modern Jeweler group has announced that it will cease publication if a buyer for the magazine is not found...

Doesn't surprise me Magazines are failing left and right.
Rising costs and falling add revenue.
Most places are spending the money they once used for adds on google and the net.

Too bad - but I''m not surprised. They cut back on their print versions a while ago and their epublication was basically useless [IMHO]. I missed the hard copy, called them and they explained that they were only sending hard copies out to places that would get them viewed. I figured they were in trouble at that point.

The entire publishing industry is in a period of profound change. Magazines are folding right and left. It will be interesting to see what replaces them. Websites have some advantages, but they''re hard to read on the bus or in the bathtub.

They also released the info on their blog a few days back. Quite sad, actually. Both Cheryl and Tim have a real passion for all sides of the industry and have always been kind (on a personal level). I do wish them and their entire staff much luck and I will miss reading the Jeweler''s Roundtable.

Sorry to hear it!Ive always enjoyed reading MJ magazine.Used it many a time in sales presentations and employee training!

A couple of years ago it was a nice thick magazine full of lots of interesting articles and photos. It''s so thin now, and has very little content. I did enjoy David Federman''s articles, but I think he''s covered every gem species there is, and now he''s going to locations of those gem species (ie Spessartite Garnet vs Madagascar Spessartite Garnet).

It''s a pity, but not a surprise.
