Hello!

I''ve been lurking for a long time now and now my BF and I are talking settings! I fell in love with this one: http://www.estatediamondjewelry.com/item.cfm?int_item_id=691&cat_id=1# I love love love how thin and delicate this is, and especially how it narrows in to the diamond. However, I really dislike how the basket surrounds the stone.

After more lurking, I discovered the lovely and famous Swan setting! It is jaw droppingly beautiful! It''s a lot simpler but it has such presence! https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/hey-starry-sisley-came-in.62600/

I can''t decide which one I want more. I don''t like the paved version of the Vatche ring because it looks too thick. Would anyone be able to play photoshop and come up with a good blend between the 2 settings? I wear a size 3-3.5 and want a really delicate band for a 1-1.25ct RB. Thanks so much!

I wouldn''t mess with that Vatche setting at all. It is so graceful and perfect as it is. It seems like you might need to go try on similar designs in person and see which looks best on your hand. Often, what we like in photos doesn''t always look as great on our hand.

I know...

but the closest retailer that sells Vatche is 5 hours south of where I live. I like them both but they are so different from each other haha. I agree though--the Swan is breathtakingly beautiful but I''ve loved the vintage setting for so long that I don''t know if I''ll be happy without it.

You dont have to try on exactly the same settings...There are plenty of settings that are close to both of those. Just shop around and see what you can come up with! And enjoy the shopping process...it should be a special and fun time...

Gosh, that vintage setting is gorgeous! The Swan is a beautiful ring as well! I agree that your best option is to try on several settings that are similar to the two that you love...then you can see which one you love more!

Hehe yeah, I love trying on rings. I''ve tried on several similar ones and I think I do like the vintage one more--just not the basket. My concern is that it''s thin shank and bead set diamonds will not hold up for a life time. Any thoughts?

Dream setting but hate the basket. Note-this is one a Cushion. The link provided above is for the same thing in a RB.

Other than on the website of where I found the vintage setting--has anyone seen anything similar to that? I''ve tried on a Scott Kay version but it just wasn''t the same.

Is that actual ring out of your budget? Or did you want to choose the stone yourself? That vendor might make up that setting for you if you ask. Leon has done one very antiquey setting, see his site, and he might be able to do something for you, depending on your budget. Or Khordipour might sell you the setting only if you wanted to find your own stone.

I don''t like the basket on it so I''ll probably ask Leon about customizing something rather than buy it from Khordipour...I don''t know what our budget really is...I would say around $1500 for the setting? I don''t know if that is reasonable.

I think if you''re expecting that much melee, $1500 is probably not possible, combined with the intricate chasing/engraving required for that but it''s worth asking Leon anyway.
