I read, I think it was in Gary Roskins book on diamond grading, that a cleavage would have a mirror like appearance. Can you see things in it like a mirror? Or how are they referring to it?

I take it you cannot see things in a diamond like a mirror, so is it just the reflective appearance or what? Surely the whole of the diamond is reflective or it would not show all the brilliance it does though. Confused.

Pyramid, I don''t know the answer to your question but I thought I''d reply just so you don''t feel like you are talking to yourself!

Oh thanks Patty.

oh well, I guess no one knows what they meant by that description.

This isnt exactly what you were asking about, but sometimes in the right light (usually low), i can see reflections on the table of my diamond. Instead of seeing through like normal, i catch a picture on the wall or something.

Maybe if the cleavage is in a particular spot and in the right light, it will be like a mirror. And i would think it would be really tiny and hard to see things reflected.

Thanks njc. I suppose that diamonds do reflect things in the same way that glass does.
