I bet you are looking forward to your trip to Vegas!!! That is always such a fun place to go to.
Well, I am not really a Vegas girl, because I don''t like to gamble my money. So unless I have shows planned and an agenda, then I find I am really bored when there. But this will be different because we won''t be on the strip and we won''t be in casinos, so I am looking forward to it. Tomorrow I go to my friends house to try on dresses. No way am I wearing the one I originally thought I would wear...which was the MOH dress at my daughter''s wedding. My hips are too big for my waist and the dress just sort of rides right on UP from where it should stay...which is on my hips.

Sooowa, I don''t feel like shelling out a bunch of money and will just borrow a dress from my friend and be Ms. Fancy Pants...
I will post pictures. It''s too bad I won''t be able to get my hair done before then. I really am needing to start highlighting again. I cannot...I repeat...cannot handle the brunette me.

Hee hee hee....Nov 4...That''d be fantastic!

And who was wearing my dress?
It was on Lindsay, Sarah Jessica Parker and I can''t remember who the third person was, but I really liked it on her.
I can''t wait to see the silver dress on you.

If you start the big hip thing again, I am gonna smack you up side the head. You have a beautiful figure. You are all in proportioned. I don''t know what you are talking about. You are petite. Geez Louise.

I love your hair the color it is.

No seriously, when I wore that dress to a fancy schmancy restaurant, I kept having to pull it down by the ruching the entire time I walked because it kept doing the creep dance up toward my waist. It was maddening.

So I will be very classy instead of sexy in a nice Diane Von Furstenwhatever. I hope it fits, cause I will be down to the wire by the time I try it on tomorrow night. Oh well, it will be worth the sushi dinner I will be bringing over to my friend to ransack her closet. It''s a shame she has little fairy feet and I can''t borrow any of her crazy awesome shoes. Boo.....

She makes gorgeous clothes Diane Von Furstenburger sp? You will look gorgeous as always. Can''t wait to see the pictures.

When do you leave? And what kind of shoes do you want?

And you haven''t seen big hips, because you haven''t seen mine! You have little hips and a tiny waist! So shut up!

You and I would have such fun in Vegas! I don''t gamble either (Can''t gamble with money you don''t have!) so we could go to shows, go shoe shopping and drive people nuts.

And I''m with Linda on your hair. I''m SO TEMPTED to dye mine dark brown again....It seems so much more...sophisticated.

...says the girl who takes pride in her hooker shoes.

Yes, stop saying you have BIG hips when you don''t. You are making me feel like Henrietta Hippo!!!

Rick and I don''t gamble in Vegas, oh he does a little, but we love the shows and all there is to see there.

Miracles (or janice whatever you prefer) I just read your entire story and you have lead such a fascinating life! I''m so glad you shared everything. I thought your daughter''s wedding photos were to die for, and I LOVED her dress!
Do you like any sports besides football?
And what is your fav animal? It''s something I ask everyone :)

Hi dragonfly!!

Wow, kudos to you for reading this whole thread. Thank you for commenting on my daughter''s wedding. It was a stressful but memorable event and I am anxiously looking forward to the planning and conception of my grandchild.

I love most animals. It is a shame that I have a severe allergy to animal dander, but that doesn''t stop me from having cats. Although they are outdoor cats now. I love dogs too, as long as they aren''t smelly. Unfortunately very few dogs can lick me without me getting large welts on my skin and the cat hair causes me to wheeze and have my eyes swell up. Yet tonight I was massaging my friends dog who is the sweetest dog on the planet. It is so touching to watch the dog and her cat play as though they are the same animal. The cat is grooming the dog who is 5 times larger than he is and when the dog tries to groom the cat back, the cat runs as though it was saying "Oooooh, your tongue is too big to groom me...YUCK!

I have debated getting a dog, but the whole allergy thing gets to me. I would love to try to get into horses, but again, I don''t know how my body would react to them. I am definately not a reptile girl. Snakes and Kamoda dragon and lizard things just make me go "ewwwwww". My dad liked to keep rats as pets. But then again, my dad was a bit quirky.

Sports, oh how I love them. I think I love the community surrounding sports and attending sporting events almost more than the sports themselves. I love watching an elite athlete as much I as love watching an amazing performance artist. I just naturally have a great deal of energy and enthusiasm and it is better suited to sports than the corporate office. I like baseball too, but would rather play it than watch it. I believe that competition is best suited on the field and not in the office.

I also love board games that exercise the mind. Scrabble, scattergories, catch phrase, things of that nature. I like to keep the mind sharp. These days I am obsessed with the political events of the moment. There is so much at stake and so I am trying to educate myself by being an obsessive compulsive reader. I just bought 3 more books today. I just love the activism, but wish I could actually get paid to do it.

Thank you so much for your kind words and being interested enough to read my thread. After all, you have to admit, some of the pictures are priceless...especially some of my preganancy photos....GAH!!
35.gif

Where are those "GO!" pictures anyway?

Miracles, you are a scrabble nut too? That''s one of my favorite games. Kris and I play all the time.

Thanks for the info on Vegas and have an amazing time when you''re there!!! The non-strip part of Vegas is really pretty. That''s actually the part I know the best from going with my family when I was a teenager.

And I agree with everyone--shut up about your hips! You are tiny and gorgeous.

I ahve be remiss in my uploading pictures duties. I swear I will get around to it soon as I have a boatload of pictures to download from my camera. I need to get them off so that I have room for my daughters birthday next weekend.

On a sad note, the dress I tried on tonight just wasted what I had hoped so I am back at square one for deciding what to wear to the wedding on the 25th. I will try to find something that I like for a reasonable price, but I may have to suck it up and wear one of the bridesmaid dresses from my daughers wedding. Oh well, it could be worse.

I am going to start reading one of the new books I got tonight so I can get myself all riled up again about politics.

You mentioned your house in another thread. I hope it''s all coming along!

By the way, my mom''s name is Janice. :)

Hi Pennquaker!! I think children of mother''s named Janice as usually genius.

Oh wait, I take that back...the mother of my daughter''s father was a Janice.

Well, I finally hired a new contractor and he came over with a tile guy to discuss the bathroom. We are hoping to have it finished by Christmas. That would be nice. I would like to be able to soak in my Roman Tub (I just learned that is the type of old tub I have).

I just need to pick out shower and floor tile. Blech, that''s the hard part for me.

What kind of look are you going for? Personally, I LOVE subway tile, it''s classic and it''s cheap (well, the basic colors are anyway). Ask me anything, I''m sure I can find something. Any colors you have in mind?

Wow, Miracles, I just read almost the entire thread (can you tell I really dont want to be studying right now!!)...and I have to say, you are probably the most mature, level-headed (yes, even after the fake diabetic episode
25.gif
) and remarkable woman I''ve ever known. Your stories were really touching, and you''re such a strong person to go through so much and emerge stronger and happier than ever.

Your daughter is SO DAMN LUCKY to have you as her mother! My mum went through a whole lot as well, and well...let''s just say that even though she tried (or atleast that''s what I''d like to think), she didn''t handle life half as well as you did. I love her incredibly, but being around her brings so much past hurt that it''s just too difficult for me. We''re trying to build a relationship from scratch right now...we only began speaking again 2 months ago. I hope we can work through our past, I really do want her to be a part of my wedding.

Anyways, I just wanted to drop in a line to say how fabulous you are!
10.gif

I have been so bad, and haven''t really paid any attention to my thread. Boo....because it was sort of like my own personal blog.

pennquaker: I LOVE subway tile too!! I don''t know why all the tile style guys seem to be obsessed with Travertine for everything. Blech.... It''s so...so...common. I like uncommon.
9.gif

I had already chosen the light cabinetry so that I could use white cheap tile or if I was able to afford it...some really amazing white stone tile from Arizona Tile that I could use...but the price differential was staggering. I just looked at a CD that the tile guy dropped off for me...and although the patterns and trim and accents might have been different on a lot of the jobs he has done....they were all the same damn travertine and/or noche. Ugh...I already did that in the other small bathroom and the kitchen floor. I''m over it. I will take a picture of my really ugly, bare and unfinished bathroom and I would be grateful for any input you could provide.

kama: Awwww, that is so sweet of you. Really...really sweet. I have had a rough month so it was so nice to see that you and pennquaker had been thinking of me. I''m so sorry that you and your Mom have had tension. It''s really tough on both of you, I''m sure of that. My daughter and I wanted to choke each other many times, especially during the wedding planning. I understand the desire to try to be close to your parents yet it isn''t as easy as some people experience in their lives. I hope for both of you, the best in your attempts. Sending lots of big hugs your way.....

Go ahead, I''m in design mode.

Where you at? It''s been a week...

GAH!!! I have been going crazy trying to DIY my bathroom design components, but choosing countertop, floor tile and bath/shower tile is too overwheming for me. Just as I finally identified the safest flooring type with the least maintenence requirements (porcelein without a glaze), and the most durable and least maintenence countertop (quartz), I was almost ready to go. I went shopping for tiles and then last night when I got home I received a notice in the mail from the back that they reduced my equity line due to the depreciation of the houses in our area. I was left with exactly $2500 available.

Now, I wish I would have paid for my daughters wedding out of that equity line so that I would have twice the money in my checking account. So the plan now is...since I do have enough in my checking account and my Visa card....is to get this done asap as cheaply as possible so I can get my refinance. Once is is all bundled together the payments will be less than the interest only equity line I have been burning while this bathroom is incomplete. Once it is functional, they will do the refinance.

Oh well, it doesn''t have to be fancy in terms of floor tile pattern, which was going to be my plan. But because my DD and SIL will be moving in and living here, it has to be safe design. No more cool fixtures on the cabinets, they have to be ones that if someone hits against them, they won''t take out an eye.

My cabinets are a very blonde oak look, so I am still going between white or black on top...I think I will go black granite. I found some inexpensive while vessel sinks that I will recess downward into the cabinets, and I have to reprice the toilet. The old cast iron tub roman tub stays now. Gosh, I can''t wait until this is done. I hate trying to balance work and make choice on stuff that will be permanent in design. Oh well, that''s life.

I still can''t believe they cut the equity line. I know I can call and make the argument that they should give me at least 10K more, and I might, because the interest rate, even for only a month or so, is definately less than pulling out the Visa which has a 14K limit. GAH!! I want to rip my hair out.

How is everything with you. How is your Mom doing?

Oh, and if that wasn''t enough, it rained a few days ago and I discovered that my skylight in the family room was leaking and there was water all over the tv console, but thank god there was no t.v. on it because my former roommate finally came over and took his stuf, including the t.v. and I ordered a new 52 inch LCD. Thank God I discovered the leak before the new t.v. has been delivered. I forgot to get the tar from Lowes yesterday, so hopefully I can get a family friend or someone cheap to get up on the roof and tar that bad boy so it doesn''t leak on my new expensive t.v. when it gets here next week.

What color is the floor in the kitchen?

Hi Pennquaker!!

The kitchen is travertine, and so is the floor in the guest bath, which someone in their infinate wisdom put very close to the kitchen.

The master, the one that houses my bathtub, is away from the kitchen and next to the hall which has the original wood flooring. I found some pictures on line where people used the same vanity color as I did, and I had to sift through a lot of pictures. Most people use dark wood or white....very few choose the light blonde like I did. Now I know why.
7.gif

I was just tired of dark cabinets. The guest bath has almost black, the kitchen is...oh I don''t know, as close to cherry as Ikea gets.
2.gif

I will be doing half in/mostly out dual vessel sinks in white. My SIL thought black would be RAD, and I told him that it wouldn''t be rad with a white tub. I found these two pics that show the color of my cabinets and what it would look like with white or black countertops. My shower is a bath/shower combo.

Here''s black countertop look

bathroom 8.jpg

White countertops....

My concern is the floor tiles competing with the shower tiles, so I am thinking they have to be the same, but I don''t like plain. I like a little sumthin, sumthin. But every bathroom seems to look exactly the same these days, as do the kitchens. Granite countertops on travertine floor and shower. So I wanted to do something different in my main bathroom. Anyway, here is with a white countertop. I think I like the black, but what floor tiles?? Grrrrrrrrrrr, I suppose as close to whitish as possible, even though they will get dirty as hell and need more cleaning....

Okay, I will have to resize the white countertop because it won''t load. Too many choices make my head spin. I sort of wish that I was doing undermount sinks in the master now, but I would have to relocate the plumbing, although I do have the space in case that is necessary. I don''t want the added cost right now though. Let me resize some of the white tops on this blonde

bathroom 4.jpg

I like the counter top in the last picture. It looks like marble.

The general rule is that the counter top should be the same color or the same tone as the flooring. If you have light flooring, make sure the counters are light, if you have dark floors, pick a darker counter top.

What color travertine do you have? If it''s in the slate grey range, I think you could do something like a Carrera marble counter top. If it''s darker, you could go black granite, but if you get black try to find a variety with flecks of white or something in it.

Whoa...breathe lady!

I''ve missed you around these here parts!

Mom...not doing well. I''ve been crying about it a lot lately, so I''ll just leave it at that.

My cabinets are blonde(ish) wood as well--I guess a slightly darker blonde than what you''ve posted--I think they are ash, and in the kitchen I have black slate ceramic tile with sparkly black granite tile on the counters. In our bathroom we have a satin finish ceramic tile that''s somewhere between tan and cream and the counter (and part of the wall--I should just take pictures) has a tan-ish creamy looking marble tile on it. Same cabinets in both spaces. And pretty darn neutral for resale value.

I also have very light blonde-medium blonde maple hardwood in my living room, and there is a large chunk of tan travertine from the entry to the hall (the reasoning for the mix of flooring is because the air conditioner decided to leak everywhere and warped part of the wood floors, and travertine was the cheapest but most expensive looking way to fix it ($10k to replace a 1 year old wood floor is not exactly what I would call a good move, $3k for travertine is much more reasonable--not to mention the mess replacing the floor would have created)).

I can take pictures of stuff if you want me to. I just have to clean up some first!
3.gif
(BTW, black floors show nothing!)

pennquaker: Thank''s for the advice. I am a firm believer in matchy matchy. I lack the "designer" gene that would allow me to toss different elements together and have it look cool. I am going to see if my daughter and my SIL really like one look over the other, or if they don''t care. It will probably all boil down to price in the end. My skylight is leaking and I just found out it is going to cost me $400 to fix that too. Bummer...

Freke: I''m so sorry about your Mom.
7.gif
There isn''t a lot I can say, but I know from experience that one just has to let the tears flow. It''s impossible to hold it back. I''m sending you big cyber hugs. And if you need something to take your mind off of things, go clean so you can upload some pics. Wait, I think you do have them somewhere...maybe in your thread. I remember seeing a part of your kitchen a while back. I need to do some searching I think. That''s a lot less cruel than asking you to clean.

Me and my daughter at a recent wedding in Summerlin, NV.... we had a blast....wait until you see the cake picture...unbelievable!!

Boo...that didsn''t post....let me try that again. Maybe just a picture of the girls...
