Who miraclesrule, come on down!

My daughter bought a ginormous crazy expensive camera and before she left, she bought a new lens. She posted this picture of a "tired traveler", the first one she tested her new lens out on. It''s sort of stalker-ish.

But I just love the picture.....the reflection is awesome. (And he''s kind of cute, in a really young sort of way). I want a new camera now.

This one of the front of the Louvre is pretty cool too....

Great pictures Janice. I love their flat. It is so cute.

Thank you Linda. I think it''s super cute. My daughter took some amazing pictures at the castle, but she only posted some teaser pics...

On the other hand....we made the news tonight!!! Yeah, Kids4Peace!!!! And not only did our event make news, but I was even on the news.

When we got back from the walk in Balboa Park, I spied the first network news cam...those are hard to miss. Then I spied a second one, so I ran and told our founder. The next thing we knew, they wanted to interview her. I have been channel surfing all night to see if we would actually make it to the airwaves and lo and behold, I heard a lead in story about us (just after talking about the Emmys) right before a commercial. So I rushed to get my cell, called our Director and had her turn on her T.V. We waited on the phone together, and it was so exciting. Their clip on the Emmy''s malfunctioned so they talked about the Chargers for a second and then went on to US

. While I was noting how gorgeous our Director looked with her new haircut, I saw the camera show different clips of the event and then I saw me and the Director dancing to the entertainment we had. We both started busting up laughing. It was awesome.

I just got done loading what pictures I was able to get, but I was so busy that I only got about 30. I took so much video because our singer was unbelievable and I used up my camera juice on video of her singing. She sang "Love Can Build a Bridge", which is amazing to watch a young African American girl sing (it''s me and daughter''s staple karaoke song) and then a song she wrote, which was phenomenal.

My back hurts from loading the sound system (those speakers are heavy) and unloading and constructing the stage and dismantling it and loading back into the truck, but now I am just

as a clam. I just wish I could make money doing my activism work.

Hey Miracles--quick question for you. I''m planning a bachelorette party for my friend and she wants to do it in Vegas. I know your daughter had hers there and so I thought you might have some ideas of what is really fun to do. I think she''d have a lot of fun doing a pole dancing class, and I seem to remember you guys did that there. What studio did you use? The one I''ve found online is this one. Was it fun? Worth it? She also definitely wants to hit up "Thunder from Down Under"

and "Les Folies Bergere", as well as the roller coaster on top of the Stratosphere. I''m also guessing she''ll want to play a little bit of poker. We will probably be there for 4 days 3 nights (likely a Friday morning through a Monday afternoon). Do you have any other suggestions for "must do" things? Clubs we should try to get to? Places to eat? Bars to check out? Order to do things in? I was thinking it might be fun to do a nice relaxing brunch on Monday morning before we leave--any ideas on that?

Sorry to pick your brain--I haven''t been to Vegas since I was about 17, so I really don''t know where the "it" places are or any of that. Thank you in advance!

Also, I forgot to ask this above, but where do you recommend staying? Maybe I should ask Freke about that, since she just booked a trip there.

Also (x2), congratulations on your event going so well!!!! It sounds like it was a huge success!

That''s awesome that you guys got on TV miracles!!!

And I love your daughter''s photography style. Very cool.

Do you have any pics of your house? I want to see it. Inside or out.

And LP, check out CheapoVegas.com. It helped me decide where to stay (although price mostly determined that) and gave me the insight to shows and restaurants. All of the different hotels have different *flavors*, but I''m sure miracles and I can help you figure that stuff out. I wouldn''t stay at Excalibur though...

Thanks for that site, Freke! It sounds like 2-3 months ahead is the best time to book, so I don''t have to worry about it for a little while at least.

The Flamingo looks like a good combination of nice and not too pricey, as well as having an awesome pool (we''ll be going in late July or August, so that''s definitely a draw). Where are you guys staying when you go?

LP, we''re staying at the Mirage, just because I was wanting to stay in about the $80 a night budget, and that pretty much left us with Luxor, Treasure Island, New York New York, and Monte Carlo. But then I started poking around online and found out we could stay at the Mirage for about $70 a night--and even with all of the other deals at the other hotels, I couldn''t find a hotel for cheaper than that! And the location is great too. I think the Flamingo will be awesome though--we only went there the last time we were in Vegas and I was shocked at how updated and nice everything was inside, because of the fact that it''s an older hotel. And I''ve heard the GO! rooms are fantastic. Speaking of, Miracles owes us a picture (or 20!) of the one she stayed in...

Miracles! Where have you been the past 4 days?! I''m betting you''ve already seen my shoe thread...

Freke, I''ve been wondering where Miracles is as well. I hope she comes back soon!

Janice, where have you been????? Are you OK???

Linda

I''m back!! I had a really difficult two weeks. I would tell you about it, but I am afraid that I might be stalked on this site. But suffice it to say that I am in a situation much like Gypsy was in...but much more "IN MY FACE" and far worse than her prior predicament. It''s been extremely stressful. I''ve missed all of you though. Very much.

Pirate,
I will be in Vegas the weekend of October 25th as well. But as far as parties go and where to stay, just go for the cheapest. You spend so little time in the room that it doesn''t make a lot of sense to pay a boatload of money just so you have a place to change clothes and get your makeup on. As long as you are on the main strip, try and do the cheaper hotels such as the Luxor, the Flamingo etc... This will help ensure that all the girls can be together, which I think is very important, and you don''t have to break up the party due to financial constraints.

I know that a lot of gals want to go all out and stay in expensive hotels, but honestly, I have stayed in the cream of the crop and the cheap hotels and had just as much fun each time. Although, in retrospect, I had more fun in the cheaper hotels because it didn''t cost me so much.
2.gif

As far as the Thunder from Down Under....it''s sort of a cheesy show, but then again, so is the Chippendales show. I think the Thunder is a bit more "classier" and the raunchiest is Olympic Gardens. In fact, the latter is fun only so that you can trash talk the tacky girls that comprise the majority of the brides to be.
27.gif

But that can be fun too!

Janice,

I don''t remember the situation Gypsy was in, can you refresh my memory just a little? I do hope you are ok.

Ditto to Linda....

It was Richard!! He''s the reason I went AWOL!!

Nah, it has to do with the day job, but that is in the past and with each day I erase the board and start anew. Suffice it to say that it was an ordeal I never thought I would ever go through and I hope I never go through it again. But I will never discuss it on this board. Which is another reason that I wish I had everyone''s email.

I did almost call you Richard to "vent", but I wanted the vicious cycle to end, so I let it take it''s due course on me.

Things could be so much worse, so I just have to put it in perspective. I''m baaaaaaack.

YAY Janice, I am so glad things are OK now. Glad you are back!!!

Love, Linda

I''m glad that things seem to be working themselves out, but I''m sorry you''ve been so stressed out. I recommend a nice big glass of wine and a bubble bath!

Hahahaha, don''t think I haven''t thought about that. That''s a work out I can wrap my arms around<----no pun intended.

BTW, Puleeeze, there is only one part of my body I want anyone looking at through binoculars.

Funny Guy Rich!!

Thanks Linda and Freke, I miss you if I am away too long.

If I do disappear every now that then until the election, it''s because I am thinking about volunteering at the polls and doing mad reading and contingency planning if all heck breaks loose.

Besides, my daughter''s b-day is next weekend and then the following weekend I will be in Vegas for a wedding that my daughter is in. It''s a big one. It''s not on the strip as the Bride and Groom live in Vegas. I think we are staying in a really nice Westin. I am sharing a room with one of the bridesmaids that I don''t know, but am so glad she needed a roommate. That will help me defray the costs.

Freke,
I was just flipping through a People magazine at my physical therapists office last week and saw your silver dress inspiration again. I starting planning my NM election day trip in my mind.
