I can''t get volume in mine. Just wait...you''ll get an 80s pic or two.

Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous.

What the heck were you doing up that late? I didn''t go to bed until after 1 my time....and here you are, posting pics of your beautiful daughter at all hours of the night...I can totally see why you''d feel better posting it though.

I''m gonna want to see wedding pics!!!
31.gif

I can''t believe I''m reading your story just now! All I can say is FASCINATING!

You have lived lady!!! What I loved the most was that although your life with your father was different (definitely not easy), it was still fun and you knew how much he loved you! I can''t even imagine how difficult it was back then...having divorced parents was hard enough I am sure.

Great, great story. Thanks for sharing. Your daughter is incredibly lucky to have such an amazing mother--and a HOT one at that! DD is just lovely too!

Congrats on her upcoming wedding. I hope you share more stories

I haven''t gotten much sleep beause of the MOBzilla Meltdown Moment that you read about in the bridal thread. I just emailed the designer and hope I hear back from them. I dont'' know why the 80''s pic didn''t post, it said it did. Oh well. My hands are still shaking from stress, I can''t remember even getting so stressed that I couldn''t stop shaking. I''m so worried about the dress. But I hope to feel better today assuming I hear back from the designer and get cooperation from the salon.

Thank you so much for you kind words. I haven''t always had the easiest life, but it has been enriched so much by my daughter''s presence and honestly, every time I look at her, I become grateful for every moment the universe has bestowed upon me and count them as my blessings.

Yeah, she sort of got my thin hair.

Sooooowa, lets see. I think I should tell you what happened with her Daddy. This is a fun story...it seems like the universe has played a few tricks on me, but I love a good laugh.

I will try to post a picture of him at my senior prom, but I will probably be too big as usual and I suck at sizing them.

So, anyway, it was a few weeks before our wedding and my daughter was alreay nearly a year old. At the rehersal dinner two nights before the wedding, my sister tells me that her and her husband were going to be getting a divorce.
6.gif
File that under the things you shouldn''t be telling someone at the rehersal dinner of their own wedding....REALLYYYYY....

I digressed...anyway, a few weeks before the wedding my daughters fathe, my fiancee, brings home a phone. It is an extra phone that we will put in the bedroom. Now we will have two phones. It was very late, past midnight and I was awakened by his coming home and he told me that he got the phone from "Larry" who was a friend of his. So, I was tired and said..."Cool, that was nice of him" and we went to sleep. The phone sucked. It wouldn''t ring. If you heard the ring of the phone in the living room, then you could pick up the phone in the bedroom and talk, but it didn''t ring on it''s own. So, fast forward to a few days before the wedding. The phone was ringing and I picked it up in the bedroom. It was "Larry" and he wanted directions to the wedding. As i was providing him the directions, I couldn''t help but say to him...."Oh, by the way, the phone you gave Brian sucks, it doesn''t even ring" and Larry says "What phone?"

::::heavy sigh:::: i hate to be made a fool, so I recover really quickly because my brother''s name is "Gary". I say to Larry, "Oh didn''t you give Brian this phone? Maybe he said Gary instead of Larry, I was so tired and it was late, I hope I didn''t mix both of you up?" And then Larry said "Yeah, it must of been Gary, because I haven''t even seen Brian, so I didn''t give him a phone."

29.gif
29.gif
29.gif
There is only one reason a man would lie about this kind of thing and it is because he got the phone from someone that he doesn''t want you to know about...like some girl or something. So I call my fiancee at work and tell him that I am not picking him up. I told him that I know that he lied to me about the phone and Larry and that he is full of s**T and he can walk his sorry butt home. He tries to butter my bum up, but I know that he being out until all hours of the night with Larry is a crock of crap and that he is really somewhere else. So, we have a knock down drag out fight wherein he refuses to admit to anyting unless he knows he can''t lie his way out of it. Finally he admits that he got the phone from a girl at work that he had been spending way too much time with. All of this is happened two days before our wedding.

I debated whether I should call the whole thing off, but then again I didn''t want to go through life without sharing the same last name as my daughter as I had acknowledged paternity when she was born and gave her his last name. So, I decided that I was going to go through with it even though he was a scumbag. The night before the wedding my sister and I drove to Lakeside to pick up the wedding cake in my little volkswagen. My sister was holding the top tiers while in the passenger side and the two bottom tiers were in the back seat. I was driving down Mission Gorge Rd in Santee and was approaching a yellow light....I thought briefly of running through the light, but my conservative side overcame me and I slammed on the breaks. Well, needless to say the bottom two layers of the cake flew into the back of the drivers seat and got all jacked up.
39.gif

I immediately ran across the street and used the pay phone...(yeah, they had pay phones back then) and called the cake store and they said they could fix it and refrost it and deliver it to the reception the next day. Thank gawd.

When all was said and done, we ended up married and I got the same last name as my daughter.
36.gif

I should post the thread that explains why I am still trying to get divorced from him 30 years later...him and the plantars wart are still here. But hopefully after August 4th, I will be a single woman, even though I haven''t seen the schmuck for over 25 years.

Wow,that was some rant. I guess I am really pissed that the Padres lost tonight.

Um. Yeah! I want to hear it.
Is he going to your daughter''s wedding?

Nah, we don''t even know where he is, and we have checked everywhere. I don''t think he has ever had a job that pays on the books. Except the car wash in Point Loma when we were getting married. He was a painter for awhile, but I was young and dumb and wanted a baby. None of his family will be there either. We tried to stay in touch with them for awhile, but they didn''t even come to her college graduation party, so why bother. They are all relatively dysfunctional anyway...well I suppose the same could be said about my family, but for some reason I grew up the most rational, independent, and stable than my other siblings. I should clarify that...financially stable...wait, mentally stable too...so far.... ::::::knocking on wood:::::::

I wish I could post this prom picture of us...but it isn''t letting me. I will try again. Nope, it''s too big...grrrrr, I wish I was more tech savvy and could resize these scanned photos...

With any luck at all...here is our prom picture. You gotta love how my nails matched his color to a T.

I know...isn''t it funny. He could pull off Farrah Fawcett a lot better than I could. Alas, my daughter didn''t inherit his full head of thick blonde hair.

Here''s some 80''s shots for you.....

Dang it.... it said it attached..

While I try to see why it didn''t and look at the size again, here is a picture of my daughter when she was modeling in the show she produced last year for a charity event for "Invisable Children" I just look at her sometimes and think..."I can''t believe I made her".

The photo gods must not want you to see my 80''s hair. Maybe it''s impossible to resize my 80''s hair!!

Dang, I didn''t think it was that big!! I don''t think it''s ever going to let me post that photo. Maybe this one of me and my daughter pinning in the veil I made her for her first communion. My hair wasn''t too 80''s in this photo, so hopefully it will post.

Lol at the 80s hair being too big to post. I wanna see it!!! Lol.

I think your daughter and I had very similar First Communion dresses.

She really is gorgeous. Takes after her mom!

Now, what family in their right mind wouldn''t want to come and celebrate this gorgeous girl graduate from college, especially when they probably would have had to drive...oh...10 miles or so to the pary.

Let me tell you about my first trip to New York. Oh, I know exactly the day, because it was during the Feast of Saint Gennaro in 2002. I had to attend a business function in Rye and then stop by our corporate office in CT. I was able to leave the business function at 11:00 am and didn''t have to be at the Westin in CT until later that night for a morning meeting.

I hadn''t seen my older sister. We are actually the same age for 13 days every year. So less than a year apart. Anyway, I hadn''t seen her in 15 years!! Suffice it to say my sister''s a freak.
2.gif
I call her one every time I talk to her. But she has a phobia of elevators, planes, cars, pretty much anything that moves. It has gotten worse over the years, because now I don''t even think she would take the train to come west. But anyway, we hadn''t seen each other in 15 years so we arranged for her meet me in the lobby of the hotel at the time I knew the conference was ending. She and her fiancee had drove in from Newport, RI where she lives.

So with much anticipation, I go rushing into the lobby to find her and her fiancee. We see each other and make a large scene and start hugging and crying and looking at each other and hugging and crying some more when we realize that every in the lobby is looking at us. So we start cracking up and I tell them that I have to go up to my room to change real quick and then they can take me into Jersey where her fiancee''s parents have been preparing a nice bbq for us. They are married now, and her husbands parents were not German, but maybe ...oh I don''t remember, but strong accents. His father was a retired well-known pastry chef at a famous restuarant at the top of the World Trade Center. And they were fanatical mushroom guru''s. They knew everything there was to know about mushrooms. They were fascinating people. After our amazing meal, I begged her to take me to Times Square. I really wanted to see New York and get on a subway, even if it was for two stops.

So we walked down the street and got onto a bus, I was so thrilled to see across the river at the city I had only dreamed of visiting. The bus let us off really close to Times Square and I thought I was going to faint. One from the humidity, and the other from the excitement. We got onto the subway and went to Little Italy where it was crowded as hell and bustling with people and aroma of italian food and heavenly slices of pizza. We went in to a little cafe and shared a slice of that heaven and to this day, no pizza compares.

We were walking through to China Town and I see some really cute decked out NYPD officers keeping the traffic open and being so friendly, so I ask one of them if I can take a picture with him and he obliges. When my sister shows me the picture on her digital camera, the cop is totally looking down at my chest in the picture, and I call him on it!! I was like "You are so busted!! You were totally checking out my chest.!!" So his partner asks if he can see the picture and my sister shows him. So his partner says "You''re right!! Arrest him! Here are my handcuffs." He instructed the "guilty" cop to give me his NYPD hat and put his hands out. My sister was laughing so hard and saying "OMG Janice, I can''t believe you!!" wth? I''m her sister, she should be able to believe me by now. So, here is the picture of me fake arresting an NYPD officer on my first visit to the Big Apple. It''s a shame the NYPD hat/cap or whatever they called was so big on my head that it fell back and you can''t really see it.....

LMAO at the NYPD story. I LOVE NYC. So cliched, but oh I feel so at home in that city.

Your daughter is a KNOCK OUT. Apple doesn''t fall far from the tree! You are an adorable woman, I so enjoy your posts!

What a great thread! It''s easy to see that you adore your daughter. Your love for her is heart warming! You really have lead an interesting life.

Thank you Miranda...I do adore my daughter.
30.gif

And I really lover my FSIL too!! I never really go to know him well before, but with all the wedding planning, I have gotten to see who he really is and I think they will have a very happy life together.

Another story with a SO NOT flattering picture of me...but in all fairness, I had just had surgery to remove a huge benign tumor in my parotid gland and I my face was super swollen. (I thought the tumor was going to disfigure me like Mary Jo Buttafuoco, because the same nerve in my face was being compromised by the tumor) The facial surgery, combined with the fact that I had gained a bunch of weight during a period of unemployment before I started this job, resulted in this very unattractive photo. This was taken with former President Bush when he was a guest speaker at our hotel when I was the Director of Safety, Security and Risk Management. He was such a great guy...I even said to him "Wow, you are such a gracious man. If I would have known how nice you were, I might have even voted for you" He just laughed and we bonded. It truly was a pleasure to work with him and his staff..although I have to say that the Secret Service detail was a PITA. They would get mad at me when folks would approach Bush Sr. and I would be say...."Hey Guys, it''s not my job to prevent people from approaching him. If he wasn''t so affable and eager to interact with them, it would make both our jobs easier, but don''t be blaming me....You are the Secret Service! I am just a hotel Security Director. It''s not my fault you can''t control your Man.!!"
20.gif
After that, they backed off me. Especially when Bush Sr., invited me to join the motorcade when he made a visit to the aircraft carrier that was about to be decommissioned. Being in the motorcade was a trip!! It is a major exercise in strategic planning...right down to the lane changes to ensure that no car comes between the one carrying the VIP and the car in front or behind him. It was fun, fun, fun..... The guys in the background... the one on the left was one of my security officers and the one on the right was Secret Service. I''m the pudgy one with Bush Sr.

Oops, hit the submit button a bit prematurely...here is the photo...

I should probably apologize for talking so much smack about my Mom and her propensity to put me and my sisters into matching clothes all the time, because I stumbed on this old photo of me and my daugher...lol, I guess I took after my Mom in some ways...

Awwww, that photo is too sweet! You seriously look as beautiful now as you did then, my dear! And your daughter was such a cutie pie--who''s now grown into a total knockout!

How are things going with her dress? I hope the designer has been able to make things right!

OMG!!!! You look just as stunning as your daughter when you don''t have crazy 70s-80s hair!!!! You really really really don''t look like her mom in this pic!!!Maybe an older sister??

And mother daughter matchy stuff is totally different from sister sister sister matchy stuff. My mom and I had matching tennis outfits when I was little. I didn''t have a problem with it at all!!!
