Minty green and minty blue...

so today I received a lovely minty blue stone from swala. The stone is a gorgoeus blue with flashes of minty green. Unfortunately, by the time I got home it was dark, and these lights are terrible for picture taking. :nono:

Ok specs, the stone is 2.93ct and 8.3mm cushion. Cutting is amazing. no window aside from a tilt window and is so pretty to look at. I love to see how it switches between blue and green along the facets.

Does it look like their picture? I would have to say its very very similar.

I took pictures of it with a similar sized stone I purchased from precision gems which is minty green and Afghanistan material so you can see there's a marked difference in color.

I want to apologize again for my really craptastic lights, but I wanted to snap a few before the battery on my camera died. The settings of course y'all have seen. My fingers have shrunk (I think its from all the stress of my work) but one ring is sized 8, the other 7.5. I haven't shrunk anywhere else though

I'll have to get more pictures during some daylight hours. Pics are in no particular order, I'm being a bit lazy.

The blue does jump out more in the rose gold setting. So thats where it will go.

beautiful...i love the setting you will put it in :cheeky:

Now that is a beautiful stone! I love that color, that lightish but saturated greenish blue. I love it!!!

It has electric color!

It's an interesting bluish green, I would love to see it in daylight.

It's gorgeous Arc, but I can't wait to see daylight and shade pics. That looks like it's going to be a stunner!

Very nice, even nicer than the vendor's photo! I love the rose gold, too.

Ooh I love both! please post more when you get a chance!

This shot was kind of interesting. Here's me, standing in the hallway, not a lot of light, and this thing glows green? KEWL!!! :sun:

A little bit of sun. Now, unfortunately both of these stones really do glow but its extremely hard to see that in these pics.

This picture they were both glowing beyond belief its very hard to capture though. Both are cut differently but are totally breathtaking.

Last one until I set the monster...

A sort of real life perspective. both stones are pretty big. My hands have shrunk a bit though. I like how it looks in the rose gold a heck of a lot which means I'm going for something red on the other setting :naughty:

Thanks for looking!

Very nice stones. They look awesome against your skin (I know that matters to you ;)) )

Oh, I didn't see this thread until now and it's that funky looking tourmaline, isn't it? Well, this is one case where I can see rose gold making the colour pop. Looks great on you.

Awesome choices...stones and settings, love them!

Thanks for your comments everybody  I think if I had taken time to put on my macro lens and all to get a good picture of the facets it would look a little more like the vendor pic. (though I'm thinking some of y'all really didn't like the vendor pic much..lol)

At regular arms length you don't see the colors change so drastically as you do up close.

However depending on light source, more blue or more green will show I kinda like that...a sort of 2 for 1 =) . It never goes dark which is a big big deal, and it truly is a very happy stone.

I'll be taking her in today to be set!

Where does your new stone hail from? Africa, Afghanistan? Just curious.

you know, I never asked! I'm going to assume Africa since it came from Swala but will double check with Eric since I've never seen them sell Afghan material.

I suspect they are Namibian, if not Afghani.

They are both Gorgeous! Just love the mintyness of those stones!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh boy, that is a beautiful stone! Both of them are. It'll look superb in that setting.

Ooooo such yummy yummy colors!

I think Swala only sells stone that are mined in Africa (spess, spinel, tsavorite, mint garnet, etc), therefore, it is likely that the origin might be Nigerian.
