Hi everyone. I am still in the market for a setting for my girlfriend and need your help. I have been doing A LOT of homework regarding styles, what to look for in a ring, etc and believe that I am ready to move forward. The only problem I am having is with locating a fantastic jeweler in the Minneapolis area. Most of the people that I talk to have mixed experiences with certain jewelers and many of them have gone through the national chains, which isn''t bad but with the mixed reviews, does not put my mind at ease. What I am wondering is if anyone can recommend a very good jeweler in the area who sells rings (already have a passed down diamond), does a wonderful job setting, and is overall high quality? Thank you in advance and as always I appreciate any/all input.

My hands down pick would be Stuart Adelman at Artelle Design. He has designed two rings for me, and I get compliments all the time. He was fun to work with, he had great ideas, and he is a perfectionist when it comes to quality and the details. Here is the link to his website http://www.artelledesigns.com/. I do not think that his website really reflects all that he does, but it is a place to start. I wish you well as you search for the right setting to reflect your love for your girlfriend. Congratulations on your impending engagement!

Note: My ring is very bold and contemporary, which fits who I am. If you want something more delicate, Stuart can do that too.

I use G Allan for my setting work. They have good benchmen.

Another great option would be Innsbruck Jewelers. My family has used them exclusively for almost 20 years.

Wonderful advice everyone, please keep it coming. Just a FYI this is almost identicle (if not the one) that I would like to get her. I have some questions pending on it regarding center diamond minimum limits and such because she has a 38 point diamond that was her mother's orginal wedding stone but it is pretty much exactly what she would be looking for. She likes cathedrals and this puts a unique spin on the traditional with the space between the upper and lower portion. Also, the accent diamond is a must. Finally, the clawed prongs are perfect and give it that added flare.

I second the recommendation for Knox, they have a good rep for custom work and are reasonably priced. I think the setting u linked is great and will be nice with that size stone. Just a quick note though, Knox Will Not "copy" a designer setting such as the pic from Pearlmans you showed, you will be better served by putting together a little "portfolio" of the pics that inspire you. As I learnt, if you provide one pic they won''t want to make a ring just like it.(which is totally fair enough). Just a lil fyi

I have a beautiful custom ring that was made by Jan Bean of Designer Creations in Wayzata. All of her work is custom & Jan is a wonderful, honest, talented person to work with. I highly recommend her.

Well everyone, it has been some time but I am back. Unfortunately the reason that I was gone is that I had to put the ring search off for a while. I was in an auto accident and hurt my neck and back and have been working on not only replacing a car (the insurance involved) but trying to get healthy again. As a very unfortunate result, I am no longer able to afford the 3000 pearlmans setting that I knew my future wife would love. What I am asking of anyone who reads it is to take a look at the link above and see if it resembles any other settings that you have come across in yoru travels that may be a little bit more affordable. The cathedral design with the surprise diamond is the combination that I see as being highest on her list. Clawed prongs versus round is a highlight. Finally, the more delicate the cathedral, the better. She has slender hands and because of this, the more delicate designs flatter her more. Thank you for any help eveyone.

It would be helpful to know a specific budget for the setting, but since you say under 3k here are some options:

$890 -- http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=264&rn=797&action=show_detail

$990 -- http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=264&rn=1355&action=show_detail

$1090 -- http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=264&rn=1615&action=show_detail

$1290 -- http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=266&rn=1400&action=show_detail

You can ask the jeweler if he can add surprise diamonds (to the ones that do not come with them) and also if he can make the prongs more claw like.

ETA -- The above are all from Knox who is in MN

Here are some other settings from non-MN locations:

$795 -- http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/-Flush-Fit--Diamond-Ring_1063.htm#

$1675 -- http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Diamond-Settings/Petite--Champaigne--Pave-by-WF_1120.htm

Wonderful! Thank you PoshPepper. I think I am going to go check out Knox especially as they have been recommended by a couple other users on here. I did not even think about asking to have a surprise diamond added (silly me). Thanks!
