What can I say, it's obviously going around. :naughty:

Intergem was in town and I couldn't resist going to talk with Elke at Vance Gems. We talked for way too long and I was having a really hard time deciding between a spess and a willemite with outrageous color. The fluor was ridiculous on that bad boy! Since spess is more suitable for jewelry it won.

It's just a baby compared to everyone else's but it's clean as a whistle. I wish it was bigger but Elke assured me that if it was it wouldn't have been for sale.

Sounds like a disease I wouldn't mind getting!

Congrats Brandy! It's a gorgeous color!

Can't wait for the October show in CT :naughty:

Very pretty! We have a show in October too...I got a small pair this spring when they were in town. I've got the same disease...have had it for months.

Nice stone brandy, but I feel like I'm coming down with something.......

So if I don't look at your thread anymore, it's just 'cause I don't want to catch your spessartitis.

Wow! What a pretty stone. I feel like I am coming down with spessartitis again, maybe its a new case or maybe I didn't treat it right the first time :-).

Very pretty orange color. I wish Elke and her husband would get their website going again, I could see lots of PS'ers interested in their precision faceted exotic gems. I told her that the last time I saw her.

scrumptious!!!

Oh Brandy, what a beautiful spess!! A Namibian with a nice Fanta color and superclean to boot!! I also love the cut, just yummy.

Congrats on such a nice find! What are your plans with this stone?

At least you have a mild case of spessartitis. Mine was so severe that I had to have all three. LOL! But I think I may be cured for now. :Up_to_something:

More pics please!!

Thank you Davi, Largosmom, cellentani, herekittykitty, TL, missydebby, and PR!

davi-be careful what you wish for!

cellentani-if you've felt it, it's probably too late. Think "Wild Mike" from Barnyard. :naughty:

TL-Elke mentioned their website was down and that their ebay store is actually ran by a friend of theirs and they really don't have much if anything to do with it. While I do wish their website was up and they had a better representation of their inventory it's almost like a double edged sword. Would probably mean less for me to oogle and buy! Elke had this really cool Russian demantoid, if I recall it was almost 3 cts and it had what she called a "sunflower" in it. Very cool horsetail inclusion. If only I had the $!

PR-just for you, more pics! I was playing around with color combos. If I'm going with a 3 stone, which I really do like the idea of, I need to figure out if they'll be diamonds or color. I  color so I'm tempted and really want to go that way but not sure what to pair it up with. Whatever it is it'll need to be step cut, I didn't care so much with any round or mixed cuts that I paired it with.

Suggestions?

Your new spess does NOT need the size; the colour is so shocking that it shouts for itself even amongst your larger stones. I'm enjoying the latest spate of high quality spessartite pictures on PS.

Ditto, just goes to show you that if a small stone has great color, it really has an impact despite the size.

Thank you so much for the new pics!! The orange color is amazing, it's so strong and saturated! Somehow I am envisioning something green with your stone. It makes me thing of a mandarin orange with the leaves still attached. Very citrusy. Or you can pair it up with a light blue, pastel pink or yellow stone if it looks too busy. The only challenge is the availability of emerald/trapezoid/bullet cut colored stone pairs.

How about a dainty pinky ring in a simple setting?

Holy smokes that color is intense!! Can't wait to see more pictures!

Another gorgeous spess and in an emerald cut, it's beautiful!

Thanks PR! The green and orange combo looks good! Every time I see that combo now though the one comment Arcadian made about pumpkins and halloween pops into my head. I do love this time of year and pumpkins are cool dang it. :D

Thank you for the suggestion Largosmom. That's a possibility as well, I don't have any pinky rings! :appl:

Thank you Fortekitty and Lovinggems! :))

Sorry I missed your comment Chrono! Coming from you, that means a lot! Thank you so much for the kind words!

That little stone packs quite a punch visually! Amazing, it makes me happy just to look at it (but I'll bet it makes you even happier!) :appl:

The orange and green stones reminded me of this ring that Dana has for sale at mastercutgems. The center is a green sapphire and the sides are round spess. I'm wondering if small green emerald cut sapphires could be sourced for your stone.

In any case, that little spess has a great color!! :appl:

Thank you Aoife and Fly Girl! The stone is a very happy looking one. :))

Since the stone is so small I'm worried that finding and/or being able to source anything will be almost impossible. Most cutters won't cut that small. I am hunting though. ;)
