Metal rubbing against diamond

Hello!

I was recommend by my jeweler to ask around pricescope for some advice on this potential problem with wedding band and engagement ring combination. Please see attached photos:

We wanted a unique geometric wedding band that is shaped like a gable roof, with a pointy angle. When this wedding band is wore together with the engagement ring, the pointy angle sits right below/side of the crown of the diamond. We are wondering if this could be a issue over time that the metal will wear off or worst case, damage the diamond in someway. We are also thinking of putting small melee along the flat part of the wedding band so potentially the small melee diamond could rub against the big diamond.

Can anyone foresee potential problem with this kind of arrangement? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you :)

Did your jewelry have no opinion?

They don't think metal against the diamond is much of a concern but they are not sure about diamond against diamond...

I'd be interested to hear the answer myself. I have a 7 stone shared prong band and would like to wear it with my 6 prong engagement ring, but I'm concerned about damage to the diamonds in the band. I don't mind the prong of my engagement ring wearing down/getting scratched, but don't want the diamonds to get damaged.

If the band is up against the side of the girdle of the diamond it will start to wear the metal away. I have a 5 stone that has put
wear marks in my engagement ring setting (which is platinum). I need to get a spacer but just haven't made it a top priority. :nono:

You should not put diamonds against diamonds.

I dont think its the diamonds you need to worry about. Its the metal.

thanks for the response guys. I guess overtime it's expected that the stone will wear off the metal.. we're also torn weather to get a rose gold or platinum. Rose gold has a nice warm and soft color but it will not be as durable as platinum so it would wear off faster..
