I'm leaning towards white gold, but thougth I"d ask for other opinions! I have a gorgeous Dana-cut pad-colored spinel - it's not super light, i'd say medium (will try to get an accurate photo up), and I was thinking it of setting it in a simple, milgrain bezel pendant (not sure if fixed like DBTY or sliding yet). I was thinking white gold would show off its unusual color the best, but now i'm not sure...any thoughts? It's 6.7mm round, and I wear all colors of jewelry and don't have any issues mixing them up! THANKS!

I've seen it done in white metals but think it is really suited more for yellow gold. Pink gold just blends in too well and white gold makes it too stark. In fact, sometimes if the tone is light, the stone's colour might just 'die' in the setting. Any pictures? Do you have any white and yellow gold jewellery to place the stone on / next to for reference?

What about using unplated white gold?

unplated white gold sounds like it might be awesome - I have a ring that's unplated and i love how it's not as "white". Here's a photo (excuse the fuzz!) of my stone...it's probably the closest I could get of the actual color I see. All I have is an IPhone, and it's tending to darken the stone a lot - IRL, it's a nice blend of pink + orange. I tried wrapping a yellow gold chain around it to see the effect, but I think it washes out the color or something - it doesn't quite pop nearly as much.

Try it out sitting on a penny. I'm wondering if a copper / blush metal will help bring out the colour.
