when you get an eternity ring - how thick or deep does the band need to be to accommodate different melee sizes 10 points, 5 points etc. I have the little chart for diameters, but it doesn't mention depth... there is probably a generic forumal in here somewhere for depth/diameter but I don't know it.

I just scale it down from a normal size stone to a melee size. Depth of a well cut stone is around 60-62% of the diameter anyway. :P

Die die! Bahahah okay so I typed xie xie which is thank you in Chinese and I look up.... Autocorrect has struck again lol had to leave it there for my amusement :P so 5 pointer, 2.4 mm, so under 2mm deep so band can be 2mm deep..... Cool-thanks!

A pretty good estimate for rounds is 60% of the diameter. Don't push this limit too much if you're trying to use this as a parameter to custom make a piece because it's a real pain (literally) to have the culets sticking into your finger but it's pretty darned rare for it to be more than, say, 70%, and in the case of melee this difference is usually a variable in the tenths of a millimeter.
